Dynamically set MinimumOSVersion in App.framework ( #178253 )
...
Currently, the MinimumOSVersion in App.framework/Info.plist is sourced
from a static template file created during flutter create. This value
can become out of sync with the -miphoneos-version-min flag used to
compile the App.framework binary, especially after a Flutter SDK
upgrade. This mismatch can lead to App Store submission warnings or
rejections.
This change fixes the issue by making the build process the single
source of truth for the MinimumOSVersion.
Fixes #176313

Update pubspec.yaml.tmpl build version tracker on line 5 ( #173600 )

Added a default +1 build number to the version field in
pubspec.yaml.tmpl (line 5). This ensures consistent versioning behavior
across iOS and Android for newly created Flutter projects.
Why this change?
- On iOS, CFBundleShortVersionString (marketing version) must be numeric
(major.minor.patch) and does not include the build number unless
explicitly set.
- On Android, the version name and version code can both be set,
allowing more flexibility in representing the build number.
- Without a build number in pubspec.yaml, Android defaults to +1 while
iOS omits it, resulting in inconsistent version strings between
platforms.
Benefits
- Consistency: Both iOS and Android builds will start with the same
format, e.g., 1.0.0+1.
- Clarity: New projects have a visible build number by default, reducing
confusion for new developers.
- Best Practice: Aligns with Apple’s numeric marketing version rules
while preserving Android’s flexibility.
Developers can still override --build-name and --build-number as needed
for custom versioning.

docs: Default Splash / Loading screen for web app in index.html ( #177084 )
...
Contributes to #102178
First I wanted to cherry-pick
https://github.com/flutter/gallery/pull/630 . But then I noticed that
there already exists a documentation:
https://docs.flutter.dev/platform-integration/web/initialization .
As most users won't expect this to be customizable (as myself), I wrote
a little docs in the index.html.tmpl that link to this page.
https://docs.flutter.dev/platform-integration/web/initialization#example-display-a-progress-indicator
I still think a default splash screen should be in place, e.g. by
providing the `flutter_bootstrap.js` by default (?)

Update Flutter's templates to use dot shorthands ( #175891 )
...
The next stable release of Flutter includes Dart's new dot shorthands
feature. This updates Flutter's templates to use shorthands. For
example, this updates the counter app that's generated by `flutter
create`.
This change does not affect the framework's style guide; Flutter's
templates use a different style than the framework. For example,
templates use things like implicit types
([example](440e7c2978/packages/flutter_tools/templates/app/lib/main.dart.tmpl (L234) )).
### Testing
To use these templates, run:
```
flutter create counter_app
flutter create empty_app --empty
flutter create my_package --template=package
flutter create my_plugin --template=plugin --platforms=android,ios,linux,macos,windows
flutter create my_ffi_package --template=package_ffi
flutter create my_ffi_plugin --template=plugin_ffi
flutter create my_module --template module
```

[Reland3] Implements UISceneDelegate dynamically w/ FlutterLaunchEngine ( #169276 ) ( #169365 )
...
## **BREAKING CHANGE**
Adopting Apple's UISceneDelegate protocol shifts the initialization
order of apps. For the common cases we've made sure they will work
without change. The one case that will require a change is any app that
in `-[UIApplicateDelegate didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:]` assumes that
`UIApplicationDelegate.window.rootViewController` is a
`FlutterViewController` instance. Users should follow the [migration
guide](https://docs.google.com/document/d/16WsqYbANmhupw-gxGPQPZ9B3yz1YBIviS-N1UyIQNSE/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.txry2otwqko3 )
to update that usage.
## Changes since revert
It's been rebased onto the FlutterPluginRegistrant PR which was used for
migration. The dynamic selection of the UISceneDelegate has been
removed, instead there is a flutter tool migration to the Info.plist.

Make FlutterGeneratedPluginSwiftPackage an Xcode root package ( #168789 )

This PR makes the `FlutterGeneratedPluginSwiftPackage` swift package an
Xcode root package. A root package is one that is within the Xcode
project as a file reference. See image below:

This change makes it so that when the
`FlutterGeneratedPluginSwiftPackage` changes, if Xcode is also open,
Xcode will automatically re-resolve the package. This makes Xcode use
the new version instead of whatever it had cached.

macOS: Update minimum macOS version to 10.15 ( #168101 )
...
This updates the Flutter minimum macOS version from 10.14 to 10.15 adds
a migrator for existing apps, and updates our own examples, tests, and
benchmark apps to 10.15. A follow-up patch will drop macOS 10.15
`@available` checks in the embedder.
This is required in order to use Swift in the embedder and not need to
bundle the Swift runtime libs in every app that uses Flutter. Swift
stable ABI was introduced in macOS 10.14.4.
As of March 2025, usage of macOS 10.14 is approximately 1.2~1.8%
depending on source of statistics, see example public usage data here:
https://gs.statcounter.com/macos-version-market-share/desktop/worldwide
This patch makes the following changes:
1. Updates mac_deployment_target from 12.0 to 13.0.
2. Changes templates to `MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET`, `MinimumOSVersion`,
and Podfile `platform :osx` to 10.15.
3. Adds migrator for Podfile part to migrate `platform :osx, '10.14'` ->
`platform :osx, '10.15'`
4. Compiles with `-mmacosx-version-min=10.15`
5. Runs the migrator on all example apps and integration tests.
6. Updates examples, tests to macOS 10.15 deployment target

iOS: Update minimum iOS version to 13.0 ( #167737 )
...
This updates the Flutter minimum iOS version from 12.0 to 13.0, adds a
migrator for existing apps, and updates our own examples, tests, and
benchmark apps to 13.0. A follow-up patch will drop iOS 13 `@available`
checks in the embedder.
This is required in order to use Swift in the embedder and not need to
bundle the Swift runtime libs in every app that uses Flutter. Swift
stable ABI
As of March 2025, usage of iOS is well below 1%, see example public
usage data here:
https://telemetrydeck.com/survey/apple/iOS/majorSystemVersions/
This patch makes the following changes:
1. Updates ios_deployment_target from 12.0 to 13.0.
2. Changes templates to `IPHONEOS_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET`,
`MinimumOSVersion`, and Podfile `platform :ios` to 12.0.
3. Adds migrator for Podfile part to migrate `platform :ios, '11.0'` ->
`platform :ios, '12.0'`
4. Compiles with `-miphoneos-version-min=12.0`
5. Runs the migrator on all example apps and integration tests.
6. Updates examples, tests to iOS 13 deployment target
It also updates `verify_exported.dart`:
* iOS 13 introduces stricter separation of const and non-const global
symbols. Previously, these were declared in the Mach-O `__DATA` section
which may be mapped read-write, but now they're in a dedicated
`__DATA_CONST` section which is mapped read-only. This adds
`(__DATA_CONST,__const)` to the allowlist with the same enforcement on

Add lldb init file ( #164344 )
...
Adds an .lldbinit file to iOS app xcscheme.
Adding to scheme files can be error prone since a developer may be using
custom schemes (flavors). If we can't add it to the scheme, we print an
error without failing.
Since it is part of the scheme, it will be added to the project and will
be used on every run regardless of the device type/version. The Dart
side handles limiting to specific devices. If needed, we can alter the
.lldbinit file during `flutter assemble` to rewrite it since it doesn't
read the file until launch time (therefore it can be changed during
build time).
During `flutter assemble`, if the project doesn't have an LLDB Init File
set for any schemes, it'll throw an error if running in debug mode with
an iOS 18.4+ device.

[Android] Add .cxx directories to app template .gitignore ( #161069 )
...
Fixes (but I still need to write the draft of the blog section so don't
autoclose github 🙏 ) https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/160372 .
-Module templates [already exclude the entire `.android`
directory](d9b7e56646/packages/flutter_tools/templates/module/common/.gitignore.tmpl (L40) ).
-Plugin templates [already exclude
`.cxx`](d9b7e56646/packages/flutter_tools/templates/plugin_shared/android.tmpl/.gitignore ).
Modified the existing gitignores with
```
nl=$'\n'
sed -i'' -e '/GeneratedPluginRegistrant.java/a\'$'\n''.cxx/'"\\${nl}"'' $(find . -path \*android/.gitignore)
```
(which was probably not the best way)
Fun fact: apparently the `.gitignore` files (including the ones we copy
to the template apps) aren't indexed for search (the `.gitignore.tmpl`
are, but not the ones that we copy exactly [such as this
one](27ba2f2790/packages/flutter_tools/templates/app/android.tmpl/.gitignore )).

- Renames `FlutterProjectType` to `FlutterTemplateType`; did some
enhanced enum cleanups while at it
- Creates a hierarchy of `RemovedFlutterTemplateType` from
`ParsedFlutterTemplateType`
- Removes the `skeleton` directory
- Merges `app_shared` back into `app` (no longer required now that
`skeleton` is removed)

Native assets support for MacOS and iOS ( #130494 )
...
Support for FFI calls with `@Native external` functions through Native assets on MacOS and iOS. This enables bundling native code without any build-system boilerplate code.
For more info see:
* https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/129757
### Implementation details for MacOS and iOS.
Dylibs are bundled by (1) making them fat binaries if multiple architectures are targeted, (2) code signing these, and (3) copying them to the frameworks folder. These steps are done manual rather than via CocoaPods. CocoaPods would have done the same steps, but (a) needs the dylibs to be there before the `xcodebuild` invocation (we could trick it, by having a minimal dylib in the place and replace it during the build process, that works), and (b) can't deal with having no dylibs to be bundled (we'd have to bundle a dummy dylib or include some dummy C code in the build file).
The dylibs are build as a new target inside flutter assemble, as that is the moment we know what build-mode and architecture to target.
The mapping from asset id to dylib-path is passed in to every kernel compilation path. The interesting case is hot-restart where the initial kernel file is compiled by the "inner" flutter assemble, while after hot restart the "outer" flutter run compiled kernel file is pushed to the device. Both kernel files need to contain the mapping. The "inner" flutter assemble gets its mapping from the NativeAssets target which builds the native assets. The "outer" flutter run get its mapping from a dry-run invocation. Since this hot restart can be used for multiple target devices (`flutter run -d all`) it contains the mapping for all known targets.
### Example vs template
The PR includes a new template that uses the new native assets in a package and has an app importing that. Separate discussion in: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/131209 .
### Tests
This PR adds new tests to cover the various use cases.
* dev/devicelab/bin/tasks/native_assets_ios.dart
* Runs an example app with native assets in all build modes, doing hot reload and hot restart in debug mode.
* dev/devicelab/bin/tasks/native_assets_ios_simulator.dart
* Runs an example app with native assets, doing hot reload and hot restart.
* packages/flutter_tools/test/integration.shard/native_assets_test.dart
* Runs (incl hot reload/hot restart), builds, builds frameworks for iOS, MacOS and flutter-tester.
* packages/flutter_tools/test/general.shard/build_system/targets/native_assets_test.dart
* Unit tests the new Target in the backend.
* packages/flutter_tools/test/general.shard/ios/native_assets_test.dart
* packages/flutter_tools/test/general.shard/macos/native_assets_test.dart
* Unit tests the native assets being packaged on a iOS/MacOS build.
It also extends various existing tests:
* dev/devicelab/bin/tasks/module_test_ios.dart
* Exercises the add2app scenario.
* packages/flutter_tools/test/general.shard/features_test.dart
* Unit test the new feature flag.

Add an integration test to plugin template example ( #117062 )
...
* Add an integration test to plugin template example
Dart unit tests don't exercise host-side plugin code at all, so the
example tests in the plugin template currently have very little
meaningful coverage. This adds an integration test to the example app
when creating a plugin, so that there's an example of how to actually
test that a complete round-trip plugin call works.
This is done as a separate template that's currently only used by the
plugin template because I don't know what a good example for a
non-plugin case would be that isn't largely just a duplicate of the
widget tests. However, the integration test pre-includes conditionals
around the parts that are plugin-specific so that it can more easily be
expanded to other use cases later (e.g., in
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/68818 ).
Part of https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/82458
* Add integration test to expected dependencies of a plugin app
* Test fixes
* Make an explicit test case
