Fix division by zero in RenderTable intrinsic size methods (#178217)
## Description This PR fixes a division by zero crash in `RenderTable` when intrinsic size methods are called on empty tables (0 rows × 0 columns) with non-zero constraints. ### The Problem When `RenderTable` has 0 columns and intrinsic size methods (`computeMinIntrinsicHeight`, `computeMaxIntrinsicHeight`, `computeMinIntrinsicWidth`, `computeMaxIntrinsicWidth`) are called with non-zero width constraints, the code calls `_computeColumnWidths()` without checking if the table is empty. This leads to division by zero at line 1140: ```dart final double delta = (minWidthConstraint - tableWidth) / columns; // When columns = 0, this crashes with division by zero ``` ### The Solution Added early return checks `if (rows * columns == 0) return 0.0;` to all four intrinsic size methods, matching the pattern already used by other methods that call `_computeColumnWidths()`: - `computeDryBaseline` (line 1242) - already has the check - `computeDryLayout` (line 1274) - already has the check - `performLayout` (line 1318) - already has the check - `paint` (line 1461) - already has the check Now all four intrinsic methods are consistent with the rest of the codebase. ### Testing Added comprehensive test coverage (`Empty table intrinsic dimensions should not crash`) that: - Creates an empty table (0×0) - Calls all four intrinsic size methods with various constraints - Verifies they return 0.0 without crashing ### Changes Made **packages/flutter/lib/src/rendering/table.dart:** - Added empty table check to `computeMinIntrinsicWidth` (line 963-965) - Added empty table check to `computeMaxIntrinsicWidth` (line 978-980) - Added empty table check to `computeMinIntrinsicHeight` (line 995-997) - Added empty table check to `computeMaxIntrinsicHeight` (line 1016-1019) **packages/flutter/test/rendering/table_test.dart:** - Added test case `Empty table intrinsic dimensions should not crash` - Tests all four intrinsic methods with both finite and infinite constraints ## Related Issues This fix addresses a potential crash when using `RenderTable` with intrinsic sizing widgets (like `IntrinsicHeight`, `IntrinsicWidth`) on empty tables. ## Checklist Before you create this PR, confirm all the requirements listed below by checking the relevant checkboxes (`[x]`). [Framework] iOS style blurring and ImageFilterConfig (#175473)
This PR adds the framework support for a new iOS-style blur. The new
style, which I call "bounded blur", works by adding parameters to the
blur filter that specify the bounds for the region that the filter
sources pixels from.
As discussed in design doc
[flutter.dev/go/ios-style-blur-support](http://flutter.dev/go/ios-style-blur-support),
it's impossible to pass layout information to filters with the current
`ImageFilter` design. Therefore this PR creates a new class
`ImageFilterConfig`.
This PR also applies bounded blur to `CupertinoPopupSurface`. The
following images show the different looks of a dialog in front of
background with abrupt color changes just outside of the border. Notice
how the abrupt color changes no longer bleed in.
<img width="639" height="411" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/4ceb9620-1056-45c3-b5fa-2ed16d90aace"

<img width="639" height="411" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/abe564f7-ea60-4d07-ad58-063c0e3794a5"
/>
This feature continues to matter for iOS 26, since the liquid glass
design also heavily features blurring.
### API changes
* `BackdropFilter`: Add `filterConfig`
* `RenderBackdropFilter`: Add `filterConfig`. Deprecate `filter`.
* `ImageFilter`: Add `debugShortDescription` (previously private
property `_shortDescription`)
### Demo
The following video compares the effect of a bounded blur and an
unbounded blur.

Reland: Add framework-side hitTestBehavior support to Semantics (#178817) (#179352)
This is a reland of #178817, which was reverted in #179100 due to test failures. The original PR introduced `hitTestBehavior` to the semantics framework but incorrectly applied `opaque` behavior to `ModalRoute`, which blocked platform views from receiving pointer events. Instead of making the entire modal opaque, we: 1. Keep `ModalRoute` without explicit `hitTestBehavior` (defaults to `defer`) 2. Make only the dialog/sheet content opaque (blocks clicks to barrier) 3. Platform views remain clickable because they're outside the opaque content boundary Fixes #149001 Original PR: #177570 Revert: #178744 |

This change reverts the following previous change:
This is a reland of #177570, which was reverted in #178744 due to test
failures.
The original PR introduced `hitTestBehavior` to the semantics framework
but incorrectly applied `opaque` behavior to `ModalRoute`, which blocked
platform views from receiving pointer events.
Instead of making the entire modal opaque, we:
1. Keep `ModalRoute` without explicit `hitTestBehavior` (defaults to
`defer`)
2. Make only the dialog/sheet content opaque (blocks clicks to barrier)
3. Platform views remain clickable because they're outside the opaque
content boundary

Add non uniform TableBorder (#175773)
Re-implementation of PR #172441 <!-- Thanks for filing a pull request! Reviewers are typically assigned within a week of filing a request. To learn more about code review, see our documentation on Tree Hygiene: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md --> ## Add non-uniform border radius support to TableBorder This PR extends TableBorder to support border radius even when the outer border sides have different widths but the same color, similar to the non-uniform border support added to Border in #121921. ### Changes - Enhanced border rendering logic: TableBorder can now apply border radius when outer border sides have uniform colors but non-uniform widths/styles - New helper methods: Added `outerBorderIsUniform` property and `distinctVisibleOuterColors()` method to determine border uniformity - Optimized paint method: Refactored the paint logic to handle three scenarios: 1. Fully uniform borders (existing optimized path) 2. Outer borders with uniform colors but non-uniform widths (new non-uniform border radius support) 3. Completely non-uniform borders (fallback to standard border painting) ### Before/After - Before: TableBorder with border radius required all sides (including inner borders) to be completely identical. - After: TableBorder with border radius only requires outer border colors to be the same, allowing different widths per side. ### Example Usage ```dart TableBorder( top: BorderSide(color: Colors.blue, width: 3.0), right: BorderSide(color: Colors.blue, width: 1.0), // Different width bottom: BorderSide(color: Colors.blue, width: 2.0), // Different width left: BorderSide.none, // No border horizontalInside: BorderSide(color: Colors.red, width: 1.0), // Different color OK verticalInside: BorderSide(color: Colors.red, width: 1.0), // Different color OK borderRadius: BorderRadius.circular(8), // ✅ Now works! ) ``` Fixes: #173193 ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [x] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [x] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. <!-- Links --> [Contributor Guide]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#overview [Tree Hygiene]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md [test-exempt]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#tests [Flutter Style Guide]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Style-guide-for-Flutter-repo.md [Features we expect every widget to implement]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Style-guide-for-Flutter-repo.md#features-we-expect-every-widget-to-implement [CLA]: https://cla.developers.google.com/ [flutter/tests]: https://github.com/flutter/tests [breaking change policy]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#handling-breaking-changes [Discord]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Chat.md [Data Driven Fixes]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Data-driven-Fixes.md |

Migrate to list and builder Sliver convenience constructors (#173011)
In 2022, we introduced new convenience constructors like `SliverList.builder` and `SliverList.list`. Unfortunately, LLMs like Gemini seem to prefer the delegate pattern even when these convenience constructors are usable. This updates Flutter's docs, code, and tests to use these convenience constructors where possible. Hopefully this will nudge LLMs to consider using the new APIs :) I migrated 80% of the code by hand, and 20% using Gemini CLI. See [go/loic-ai-log](http://goto.google.com/loic-ai-log) (Google internal) for details. There's a few locations that I wasn't able to migrate to the convenience constructors due to missing APIs. Update default selectionHeightStyle and selectionWidthStyle for EditableText (#167762)
This change updates the default `selectionHeightStyle` and
`selectionWidthStyle` for `EditableText` to more closely match the
behavior on native platforms.
```dart
/// The default value for [selectionHeightStyle].
/// On web platforms, this defaults to [ui.BoxHeightStyle.max].
///
/// On native platforms, this defaults to [ui.BoxHeightStyle.includeLineSpacingMiddle] for all
/// platforms.
static ui.BoxHeightStyle get defaultSelectionHeightStyle {
if (kIsWeb) {
return ui.BoxHeightStyle.max;
}
switch (defaultTargetPlatform) {
case TargetPlatform.android:
case TargetPlatform.fuchsia:
case TargetPlatform.iOS:
case TargetPlatform.linux:
case TargetPlatform.macOS:
case TargetPlatform.windows:
}
}
/// The default value for [selectionWidthStyle].
Fix the incorrect position of SliverTree child nodes. (#167928)
Run the code below:
```dart
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
import 'package:flutter/rendering.dart';
void main() => runApp(const MaterialApp(home: MyApp()));
class MyApp extends StatefulWidget {
const MyApp({super.key});
@override
State<MyApp> createState() => _MyAppState();
}
class _MyAppState extends State<MyApp> {
final GlobalKey _key = GlobalKey();
final GlobalKey _childNodeKey = GlobalKey();
late final List<TreeSliverNode<GlobalKey>> tree = [
TreeSliverNode<GlobalKey>(_key, expanded: true, children: [
TreeSliverNode<GlobalKey>(_childNodeKey),
]),
];
@override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
body: CustomScrollView(
slivers: [
TreeSliver(
tree: tree,
indentation: TreeSliverIndentationType.custom(40),
treeRowExtentBuilder: (node, dimensions) => 40,
treeNodeBuilder: (context, node, animationStyle) {
return Container(
key: node.content as Key,
color: node.content == _key ? Colors.blue : Colors.green,
);
},
),
],
),
floatingActionButton: FloatingActionButton(
onPressed: () {
final RenderBox rb = _childNodeKey.currentContext!.findRenderObject() as RenderBox;
print(rb.localToGlobal(Offset.zero));
},
child: const Icon(Icons.add),
),
);
}
}
```
Get the screen:
When the `floatingActionButton` is clicked, it should print the position
of the green `Container`. The expected result is `Offset(40.0, 40.0)`,
but the actual result is `Offset(0.0, 40.0)`. `hitTest` also produces
incorrect results. This PR fixes the issue.
Control paint order / z-order of slivers (#164818)
Fixes #145592. When slivers in a CustomScrollView overlap, this makes it possible to control which of the slivers will sit in front of the other one, meaning that it paints last and gets hit-tested first. In this version there are two choices: the first sliver paints in front, or the last sliver paints in front. The first sliver in front is the default; it's the behavior needed for SliverAppBar, or other situations where the first sliver is some sort of header. The existing behavior is actually quite a bit more complicated than that, with the "center" sliver painting in front, plus it varies depending on `shrinkWrap`. As far as I can tell this behavior isn't documented anywhere. It's equivalent to first-sliver-in-front whenever `CustomScrollView.center` isn't being used; and in fact there don't seem to be any tests in the tree that notice the difference between the existing behavior and first-sliver-in-front. So although I actually have an implementation that preserves the more complex existing defaults, I'm hopeful we won't need it: if neither google3 nor customer tests are relying on that undocumented distinction either, then we can go ahead and simplify this behavior without a breaking change. |
[framework]Add semantics role to table rows. (#163337)
**1. framework side:**
This PR Create semantics node for rows in table's
`assembleSemanticsNode` function.
**2. web side:**
I tested on my mac, and i need to remove the
`<flt-semantics-container>` between table and row, row and cell to
traverse inside table, removing those transfom intermediate containers
on web will be a bit of hassle and will be in another separate PR.
For example this code can only announce table but can’t get into cells.
```
<flt-semantics id="flt-semantic-node-4" role="table" style="position: absolute; overflow: visible; width: 751px; height: 56px; transform-origin: 0px 0px 0px; transform: matrix(1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 56); pointer-events: none; z-index: 1;">
<flt-semantics-container style="position: absolute; pointer-events: none; top: 0px; left: 0px;">
<flt-semantics id="flt-semantic-node-6" role="row" style="position: absolute; overflow: visible; width: 751px; height: 56px; top: 0px; left: 0px; pointer-events: none;">
<flt-semantics-container style="position: absolute; pointer-events: none; top: 0px; left: 0px;">
<flt-semantics id="flt-semantic-node-5" role="columnheader" aria-label="Name" style="position: absolute; overflow: visible; width: 751px; height: 56px; top: 0px; left: 0px; pointer-events: all;"></flt-semantics>
</flt-semantics-container>
</flt-semantics>
</flt-semantics-container>
</flt-semantics>
```
If I removed the in between `</flt-semantics-container>`, the code come
```
<flt-semantics id="flt-semantic-node-4" role="table" style="position: absolute; overflow: visible; width: 751px; height: 56px; transform-origin: 0px 0px 0px; transform: matrix(1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 56); pointer-events: none; z-index: 1;">
<flt-semantics id="flt-semantic-node-6" role="row" style="position: absolute; overflow: visible; width: 751px; height: 56px; top: 0px; left: 0px; pointer-events: none;">
<flt-semantics id="flt-semantic-node-5" role="columnheader" aria-label="Name" style="position: absolute; overflow: visible; width: 751px; height: 56px; top: 0px; left: 0px; pointer-events: all;"></flt-semantics>
</flt-semantics>
</flt-semantics>
```
And I can get into table cells.
Add clipRSuperellipse, and use them for dialogs (#161111)
This PR makes Flutter support `clipRSuperellipse`, and apply it to `CupertinoAlertDialog`. Make PipelineOwner a base class (#161789)
Such that nobody `implements` it. Currently it has private APIs used by the `RenderObject` class (e.g., the dirty lists). If someone were to implement a `PipelineOwner` outside of object.dart, they will get a runtime `noSuchMethod` crash since they won't be able to provide those private APIs and RenderObjects actually expect those APIs to exist. Will be slow to update/respond due to extremely spotty internet :( ## Pre-launch Checklist - [ ] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [ ] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [ ] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [ ] I signed the [CLA]. - [ ] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [ ] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [ ] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [ ] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [ ] All existing and new tests are passing. Auto-format Framework (#160545)
This auto-formats all *.dart files in the repository outside of the `engine` subdirectory and enforces that these files stay formatted with a presubmit check. **Reviewers:** Please carefully review all the commits except for the one titled "formatted". The "formatted" commit was auto-generated by running `dev/tools/format.sh -a -f`. The other commits were hand-crafted to prepare the repo for the formatting change. I recommend reviewing the commits one-by-one via the "Commits" tab and avoiding Github's "Files changed" tab as it will likely slow down your browser because of the size of this PR. --------- Co-authored-by: Kate Lovett <katelovett@google.com> Co-authored-by: LongCatIsLooong <31859944+LongCatIsLooong@users.noreply.github.com> |
Adjust ignores for 'dart format' (#160382)
When running `dart format` over these lines the `// ignore` ended up on a line where it wasn't properly ignoring the lint. This adjusts the placement of `// ignore`s so they will continue to ignore the right thing even after the code is auto formatted. I am hoping that if we do this now the large PR that formats the entire repo will go in smoother without manual intervention. |
fix fade_transition issue (#157663)
Fixes: #157312 A simpler way to reproduce this issue: ```dart import 'package:flutter/material.dart'; void main() { runApp(MyApp()); } class MyApp extends StatefulWidget { const MyApp({super.key}); @override State<MyApp> createState() => _MyAppState(); } class _MyAppState extends State<MyApp> with SingleTickerProviderStateMixin { late AnimationController controller = AnimationController( duration: const Duration(seconds: 2), value: 1, vsync: this, ); @override Widget build(BuildContext context) { return MaterialApp( home: Scaffold( body: Center( child: FadeTransition( opacity: controller, child: Builder( builder: (context) { return GestureDetector( onTap: () { controller.value = 0.5; context.findRenderObject()?.markNeedsPaint(); controller.value = 0; }, child: Text("Click"), ); }, ), ), ), ), ); } } ``` The main reason is that updating the opacity with `markNeedsCompositedLayerUpdate` followed by `markNeedsPaint` causes it to be added to `owner!._nodesNeedingPaint` twice. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [x] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [ ] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. iOS Selection Handle Improvements (#157815)
Fixes #110306 https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/d0a20ae9-912c-4ddc-bd6a-a21409468078 This change: * Allows selection handles on iOS to swap with each other when inverting on `TextField`. * Allows selection handles to visually collapse when inverting on `SelectableRegion`/`SelectionArea`, previously they showed both left and right handles when collapsed, instead of the collapsed handles. * Adds a border to the CupertinoTextMagnifier, the same color as the selection handles to match native iOS behavior. `SelectionOverlay`: * Previously would build an empty end handle when the selection was collapsed. Now it builds an empty end handle when the selection is being collapsed and the start handle is being dragged, and when the selection is collapsed and no handle is being dragged. * Hides start handle when the selection is being collapsed and the end handle is being dragged. * Keeps the handles from overlapping. `TextSelectionOverlay`: * Removes guards against swapping handles for iOS and macOS. * Tracks `_oppositeEdge` used to maintain selection as handles invert. `RenderParagraph`: * Send collapsed selection handle state in `SelectionGeometry`, previously we wouldn't so the collapsed state would show both start and end handles. `CupertinoTextMagnifier`: * Inherit border color from parent `CupertinoTheme.of(context).primaryColor`. Selection handles also uses `primaryColor`. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [x] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [x] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. --------- Co-authored-by: Renzo Olivares <roliv@google.com> |
improve ContainerRenderObjectMixin error message when parentData is not set up properly (#157846)
Previously when subclassing `MultiChildRenderObjectWidget` and `RenderObject with ContainerRenderObjectMixin`, if one forgot to set up parent data, the error message does not give hint that `setupParentData` need to be implemented by the `RenderObject`. Update color assertions (#154752)
issue: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/127855 This is a forward fix to help https://github.com/flutter/engine/pull/54981 land. It makes the following changes: 1) Removes hardcoded `Color.toString()` assumptions in asserts 1) Switches some lerp tests to use numbers that are more friendly to uint8_t and floating point numbers 1) implements custom matchers for color 1) removes word wrapping for some asserts since it makes them fragile to changes in `Color.toString()` invocations ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [x] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [x] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. Implementing null-aware logic in /packages/flutter/ (#152294)
Hopefully soon, [flutter.dev/go/dart-patterns](https://flutter.dev/go/dart-patterns) will have lots of good feedback; in the meantime, I'll focus refactoring efforts on uncontroversial things :) Previously, I was under the impression that I could solve issue #143803 with [just 1 PR](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/143804). It turns out that I had overlooked quite a bit! <br> ```dart // before if (chunkEvents != null) { chunkEvents.listen((ImageChunkEvent event) { reportImageChunkEvent(event); }, ); } // after chunkEvents?.listen(reportImageChunkEvent); ``` |
Remove unnecessary parens in test (#151846)
In order to address [a bug in `unnecessary_parenthesis`](https://github.com/dart-lang/linter/issues/3046), we are reporting a few more cases in `unnecessary_parenthesis`. `a = (b = c)` is one such case. This change is being made in https://dart-review.googlesource.com/c/sdk/+/366891. |
Make FittedBox not throw when child has zero size. (#150430)
fix https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/135082 , fix https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/139539 , fix https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/142910 Before, `FittedBox` would throw when child size is zero, unless the constraint is tight and fit is not `BoxFit.scaleDown`. |
Reland of https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/147171
It was reverted for a failing unit test that had passed in presubmit. Hopefully this sticks better.
