Used `grep --exclude-dir=third_party --include=gradle\.properties -rw .
-e "android.enableJetifier=true"` to find usages.

versions in preparation for gradle 9 (#171399)"**
- **bump lockfile generator to use kotlin 2.1.0**
- **Update formatting of lockfile to pass ktlint**
Updated lockfiles with
`JAVA_HOME=/opt/homebrew/opt/openjdk@17/libexec/openjdk.jdk/Contents/Home/
dart dev/tools/bin/generate_gradle_lockfiles.dart` after
dev/tools/bin/generate_gradle_lockfiles.dart to bump the versions of
kotlin.
Failing tests from first attempt

Verified example test that cause revert was passing by running the
following
- `../../bin/cache/dart-sdk/bin/dart bin/test_runner.dart test -t
run_debug_test_android.dart` from `dev/devicelab`
- `../../bin/cache/dart-sdk/bin/dart bin/test_runner.dart test -t
run_release_test` from `dev/devicelab`
- `SHARD=android_engine_vulkan_tests bin/cache/dart-sdk/bin/dart
dev/bots/test.dart` from root with an android emulator. Hard to actually
verify because the emulator is closed as part of the tests but no
failures were from failures to compile.
- `flutter test
test/general.shard/android/android_project_migration_test.dart` from
`packages/flutter_tools/`

This reverts commit
8dccbc33df.
Find/replace didn't catch the use of `jvmTarget = "1.8"` in
`dev/integration_tests/android_engine_test/android/app/build.gradle` and
`android_engine_test` needed to have `"com.android.application"`
updated.
Should resolve issues related to the following messages being output on
stderr:
```
warning: [options] source value 8 is obsolete and will be removed in a future release"
warning: [options] target value 8 is obsolete and will be removed in a future release
warning: [options] To suppress warnings about obsolete options, use -Xlint:-options.
Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/165973
Another large test suite that has never been running.
The underlying thing I _think_ it wanted tested, which was hybrid
composition, is now tested by `android_engine_test`. I also added a red
square on top of each platform view so that, like
`hybrid_android_views`, we can make sure layering is working as
expected.
Any other ideas? Can also be follow-up PRs?
Use the PlatformViewController2 to register a platform view, allow the
dart side platform view logic to opt into this new platform view. Wires
up an integration test with android_engine_test.
A few changes in this PR (could have been split up, but that would take
an extra 4 hours - 2 days in CI time):
- Removed the old `flutter_driver_android_test` shards and references
- Override `AndroidManifest.xml` per backend, forcing that backend to be
used (no fallbacks) or it fails
- Bumps the Android emulator to 35 due to the use of magic strings, I
think
The check for the Impeller backend actually being used is the honor
system right now, as a bug in `flutter drive`
(https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/162087) prevents me from
seeing error output, meaning that it's impossible to be sure a
particular Impeller backend is used (or understand why a crash happens),
so I guess I'll work on that next.
Due to https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/162088, we were
accidentally running our Vulkan tests as OpenGLES 🤦🏼 .
Towards https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/161261 (before I add
more tests).
This is a 1:1 move, with massaging of
`run_flutter_driver_android_tests.dart` to be more automated as tests
are added.
