Normalize input decoration theme (#168981)
This PR is to make `InputDecorationTheme` conform to Flutter Material's conventions for component themes: - Added a `InputDecorationThemeData` class which defines overrides for the defaults for `InputDecorator` properties. - Added `InputDecorationTheme` constructor parameters: `InputDecorationThemeData? data` and `Widget? child`. This is now the preferred way to configure a `InputDecorationTheme`: ```dart InputDecorationTheme( data: InputDecorationThemeData( filled: true, fillColor: Colors.amber, ... ), child: const TextField() ) ``` These two properties are made nullable to not break existing apps which has customized `ThemeData.inputDecorationTheme`. - Update `InputDecorationTheme` to be an `InheritedTheme` subclass. - Changed the type of component theme defaults from `InputDecorationTheme` to `InputDecorationThemeData`. - Changed the `InputDecorationTheme bottomAppBarTheme` property to `Object? bottomAppBarTheme` in `ThemeData` and `ThemeData.copyWith()` (Object? is used for the moment to minimize Google tests failure. A follow-up PR will replace `Object?` with `InputDecorationThemeData`. - Addresses the "theme normalization" sub-project within #91772. A migration guide will be created on website repo. |

Replace LinkedHashMap.* with Map.*, which _is_ Linked (#170713)
Pre-work to make it easier to land https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/170435. The default `Map` constructor is and always has been a `LinkedHashMap`: https://api.dart.dev/dart-core/Map/Map.html This change make its easier to relax the type annotation rules in a future PR. /cc @eernstg |

Pause UIScene migration (#170490)
UIScene migration is not yet enforced by Apple so we have some more time to handle this. Let's pause on auto-migrating projects. Reland of https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/170457. I have to factor out abstract class for RadioGroupRegistry and
RadioClient which are subclassed by RadioGroupState and RawRadio
respectively.
I have to do this because the RadioListTile that has 2 focusnode one for
listTile and one for the radio it builds. The issue is that RadioGroup's
keyboard shortcut has to tightly couples with the focus node of each
radio, but the radioListtile has to mute the radio's focusnode so it can
act as one control under keyboard shortcut

[Reland3] Implements UISceneDelegate dynamically w/ FlutterLaunchEngine (#169276) (#169365)
## **BREAKING CHANGE** Adopting Apple's UISceneDelegate protocol shifts the initialization order of apps. For the common cases we've made sure they will work without change. The one case that will require a change is any app that in `-[UIApplicateDelegate didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:]` assumes that `UIApplicationDelegate.window.rootViewController` is a `FlutterViewController` instance. Users should follow the [migration guide](https://docs.google.com/document/d/16WsqYbANmhupw-gxGPQPZ9B3yz1YBIviS-N1UyIQNSE/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.txry2otwqko3) to update that usage. ## Changes since revert It's been rebased onto the FlutterPluginRegistrant PR which was used for migration. The dynamic selection of the UISceneDelegate has been removed, instead there is a flutter tool migration to the Info.plist. ## Description fixes: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/167267 design doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZfcQOs-UKRa9jsFG84-MTFeibZTLKCvPQLxF2eskx44/edit?tab=t.0 relands https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/168396 relands https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/168914 relands https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/169276 ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [x] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [x] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. |

Validate build configuration during Xcode build phase (#169395)
You can run iOS/macOS Flutter apps through either the Flutter CLI or Xcode. However, it's often required to first run the Flutter CLI to generate required files and settings. Some of these settings/files (like dev dependencies) are specific to the build mode. However, you can change the build mode through Xcode too. When you change the build mode through Xcode, the Flutter-generated files and setting may not be correct. This PR checks if the current build mode matches the one last used by the Flutter CLI. If it doesn't, it'll print a warning like this: If the build action is `install`, which indicates the app is being built for distribution, this will print as an error and fail the build: ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [ ] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [x] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. integration_tests: Check if BuildContext is mounted in display_cutout_test (#169008)

[Cupertino] Apply RSuperellipse to most Cupertino widgets (#167784)
This PR applies RSuperellipse to most Cupertino widgets. I got the list by searching for `ClipRRect`, `drawRRect`, and `BoxDecoration` (with `borderRadius`) through the package. They're replaced by `ClipRSuperellipse`, `drawRSuperellipse`, and `ShapeDecoration` respectively. There are a few widgets that I didn't apply: * `CupertinoTextField` as well as its related widget `CupertinoSearchTextField`, because `CupertinoTextField` expects a `BoxDecoration` argument. Migrating it is nontrivial and will take place in a separate PR. * `CupertinoTextSelectionToolbar`, because it seems complicated (containing a lot of paths). I wonder if it's possible to replace the clipPath with clipRRect/clipRSe for better performance. * `CupertinoSwitch`. I suspect it's not an squircle since it tightly contains a full circle. Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/13914. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [ ] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [ ] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [ ] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [ ] I signed the [CLA]. - [ ] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [ ] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [ ] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [ ] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [ ] All existing and new tests are passing. This change reverts the following previous change:
Reland after #169357.
Switch Flutter to use pub workspaces as a preparation to unpin selected
packages.
Assumptions:
1. No packages in this repository are published to pub.dev --> We can
use `any` dependencies in most local pubspecs, as the global constraint
defines the version. An exception are the packages used outside of this
repo with an `sdk` dependency, namely `flutter_localizations`,
`flutter_test`, and `flutter`.
2. The "universes" `{flutter_tools}` and `{flutter,
flutter_localizations, flutter_goldens}` can use different packages
versions, as they are not resolved together. --> We do not need to
upgrade them in sync, we can first do one "universe", then the other.
Based on these assumptions, we use
https://github.com/mosuem/pubspec_merger.dart to merge all packages in
the `flutter` universe into a top-level pub workspace.
The `flutter` and `flutter_tools` workspaces being separate also ensures
that changes to `flutter` will not inadvertently break `flutter_tools`,
with not-so-nice consequences for our users which would be unable to run
`flutter upgrade`.
There is a third "top-level" pubspec besides `./pubspec.yaml` and
`packages/flutter_tools/pubspec.yaml`, namely
`packages/flutter_tools/.../widget_preview_scaffold/pubspec.yaml`. This
is an artifact due to it living under `flutter_tools`, so it can't be
part of the `./pubspec.yaml` workspace. Moving it would be a larger
change, and out of the scope of this PR.
This required a rewrite of the update-packages tool, but the main
functionality stays the same, as well as the argument names, to ensure a
seamless transition.

Use pub workspace (#168662)
Switch Flutter to use pub workspaces as a preparation to unpin selected
packages.
Assumptions:
1. No packages in this repository are published to pub.dev --> We can
use `any` dependencies in most local pubspecs, as the global constraint
defines the version. An exception are the packages used outside of this
repo with an `sdk` dependency, namely `flutter_localizations`,
`flutter_test`, and `flutter`.
2. The "universes" `{flutter_tools}` and `{flutter,
flutter_localizations, flutter_goldens}` can use different packages
versions, as they are not resolved together. --> We do not need to
upgrade them in sync, we can first do one "universe", then the other.
Based on these assumptions, we use
https://github.com/mosuem/pubspec_merger.dart to merge all packages in
the `flutter` universe into a top-level pub workspace.
The `flutter` and `flutter_tools` workspaces being separate also ensures
that changes to `flutter` will not inadvertently break `flutter_tools`,
with not-so-nice consequences for our users which would be unable to run
`flutter upgrade`.
There is a third "top-level" pubspec besides `./pubspec.yaml` and
`packages/flutter_tools/pubspec.yaml`, namely
`packages/flutter_tools/.../widget_preview_scaffold/pubspec.yaml`. This
is an artifact due to it living under `flutter_tools`, so it can't be
part of the `./pubspec.yaml` workspace. Moving it would be a larger
change, and out of the scope of this PR.
This required a rewrite of the update-packages tool, but the main
functionality stays the same, as well as the argument names, to ensure a
seamless transition.

This is sometimes done to register platform channels directly on the `FlutterViewController`. Instead users should use the `FlutterPluginRegistry` API's to create platform channels in `-[UIApplicateDelegate didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:]`, like `FlutterPlugin`s do. Unpin test/test_core/test_api packages (#169198)
These packages were recently pinned (in https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/168916) due to a bug (https://github.com/dart-lang/test/issues/2498). That bug was fixed and new versions of the test packages published. This change unpins and lets them upgrade to the fixed version. |

It updates the app to no longer force the keyboard to be visible and hot restarts the app 4. It checks that the keyboard is no longer visible by examining the app's logs Previously, the test app printed the keyboard status whenever the app rebuilt. The test would move on as soon as it saw a log that indicates the keyboard was in the expected state. However, since the app could log the keyboard's visibility _before_ the Dart VM was available, hot restart commands could be ignored (or at least, that's my theory from the DeviceLab logs). Now, the test app prints the keyboard status non-stop. The test now waits until the Dart VM is available before checking if the logs indicate the keyboard is open. Also, the test now waits until the hot restart has completed before checking if the keyboard is closed. In theory, this should ensure that hot restart does not happen until after the Dart VM is available. Normalize BottomAppBarTheme (#168586)
This PR is to make `BottomAppBarTheme` conform to Flutter Material's conventions for component themes: - Added a `BottomAppBarThemeData` class which defines overrides for the defaults for `BottomAppBar` properties. - Added `BottomAppBarTheme` constructor parameters: `BottomAppBarThemeData? data` and `Widget? child`. This is now the preferred way to configure a `BottomAppBarTheme`: ```dart BottomAppBarTheme( data: BottomAppBarThemeData( color: xxx, height: xxx, elevation: xxx, shape: xxx, ... ), child: const BottomAppBar() ) ``` These two properties are made nullable to not break existing apps which has customized `ThemeData.bottomAppBarTheme`. - Update `BottomAppBarTheme` to be an `InheritedWidget` subclass. - Changed the type of component theme defaults from `BottomAppBarTheme` to `BottomAppBarThemeData`. - Changed the `BottomAppBarTheme bottomAppBarTheme` property to `BottomAppBarThemeData bottomAppBarTheme` in `ThemeData` and `ThemeData.copyWith()`. This may cause breaking changes, a migration guide will be created on website repo. - Add new tests for `BottomAppBarThemeData` and update the existing `BottomAppBarTheme` tests. And also turn to `true` for `useMaterial3` (along with usages accordingly) at the common method `_withTheme()` since `useMaterial3` is true by default. - Addresses the "theme normalization" sub-project within #91772. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. macOS: Update minimum macOS version to 10.15 (#168101)
This updates the Flutter minimum macOS version from 10.14 to 10.15 adds a migrator for existing apps, and updates our own examples, tests, and benchmark apps to 10.15. A follow-up patch will drop macOS 10.15 `@available` checks in the embedder. This is required in order to use Swift in the embedder and not need to bundle the Swift runtime libs in every app that uses Flutter. Swift stable ABI was introduced in macOS 10.14.4. As of March 2025, usage of macOS 10.14 is approximately 1.2~1.8% depending on source of statistics, see example public usage data here: https://gs.statcounter.com/macos-version-market-share/desktop/worldwide This patch makes the following changes: 1. Updates mac_deployment_target from 12.0 to 13.0. 2. Changes templates to `MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET`, `MinimumOSVersion`, and Podfile `platform :osx` to 10.15. 3. Adds migrator for Podfile part to migrate `platform :osx, '10.14'` -> `platform :osx, '10.15'` 4. Compiles with `-mmacosx-version-min=10.15` 5. Runs the migrator on all example apps and integration tests. 6. iOS: Update minimum iOS version to 13.0 (#167737)
This updates the Flutter minimum iOS version from 12.0 to 13.0, adds a migrator for existing apps, and updates our own examples, tests, and benchmark apps to 13.0. A follow-up patch will drop iOS 13 `@available` checks in the embedder. This is required in order to use Swift in the embedder and not need to bundle the Swift runtime libs in every app that uses Flutter. Swift stable ABI As of March 2025, usage of iOS is well below 1%, see example public usage data here: https://telemetrydeck.com/survey/apple/iOS/majorSystemVersions/ This patch makes the following changes: 1. Updates ios_deployment_target from 12.0 to 13.0. 2. Changes templates to `IPHONEOS_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET`, `MinimumOSVersion`, and Podfile `platform :ios` to 12.0. 3. Adds migrator for Podfile part to migrate `platform :ios, '11.0'` -> `platform :ios, '12.0'` 4. Compiles with `-miphoneos-version-min=12.0` 5. Runs the migrator on all example apps and integration tests. 6. Updates examples, tests to iOS 13 deployment target It also updates `verify_exported.dart`: * iOS 13 introduces stricter separation of const and non-const global symbols. Previously, these were declared in the Mach-O `__DATA` section which may be mapped read-write, but now they're in a dedicated `__DATA_CONST` section which is mapped read-only. This adds `(__DATA_CONST,__const)` to the allowlist with the same enforcement on exported symbol naming as before. Add kotlin compatability to build file validation (#167143)
Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/161443 * adds a new gradle task like `javaVersion` named `kgpVersion` that prints the version of kgp. * adds gradle_utils.dart method for getting kgp version * * kgp method is moved to utilities and we attempt to use a plugin method before reflection. * adds methods or evaluating KGP + gradle and KGP + AGP compatibility. * * It turns out that we have been using incompatible versions that happen to work with the subset of kotlin we are using. * Uses new kgp methods in flutter analyze --suggestions as part of the existing agp/java/gradle compatibility matrix. * adds new tests for all new functionality * Adds comments to sections of the code I found could use them. * Modifies flutter gallery to use a compatible version of kotlin and update its lockfiles. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. |

[ Widget Preview ] Add support for theme and brightness properties on Preview (#167001)
The `theme` parameter of `Preview(...)` allows for developers to provide a callback that returns a `PreviewThemeData` instance which can contain theming data for Material and Cupertino widgets in both light and dark modes. The provided theme data will be injected into the widget tree and applied to the previewed widget. The `brightness` parameter allows for developers to specify an initial brightness setting (e.g., light vs dark mode) for the previewed widget. If not provided, the current system default is used. A new button has also been added to each widget preview card that allows for toggling between light and dark mode for individual previews. **Demo:** https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/f0a4a3bc-25d2-49b0-a5f6-9149eccfc1d4 Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166436 Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166275 Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166279 Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166437 |

[iOS/macOS] Add Xcode error if dev dependencies are incorrect (#165916)
Recently, the Flutter tool was updated to remove dev dependencies for release builds and add dev dependencies for debug/profile builds. However when building from Xcode directly, dev dependencies are not enabled/disabled. As a result, it was possible for debug builds to not have dev dependencies (or vice versa). Example: 1. `flutter build ios --release` - Release build using Flutter tool. Disables dev dependencies 2. `open ios/Runner.xcworkspace` - Open the iOS project in Xcode 3. In Xcode, **Product** > **Build** - Do a debug build Previously, step 3 would result in debug artifacts that are missing dev dependencies. This PR now makes this an error: Part of https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/163874 ## Implementation The Flutter tool now writes a `FLUTTER_DEV_DEPENDENCIES_ENABLED` in the generated config file. This tracks whether the currently generated project has dev dependencies. In the Xcode build: 1. The Xcode backend script passes the `FLUTTER_DEV_DEPENDENCIES_ENABLED` config to `flutter assemble` using the `DevDependenciesEnabled` define 6. The new `CheckDevDependencies` target verifies dev dependencies: 1. It checks if the dev dependencies status is correct for the current build mode 2. It checks whether the app has dev dependencies by reading the `.flutter-plugins-dependencies` file. If the app has no dev dependencies, the error is suppressed. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. [native assets] Roll dependencies (#166969)
Roll forward deps to the ones published today. Note: `package:native_assets_cli` has a lower-bound on a Dart SDK dev version to signal for which version of Dart and Flutter it is compatible with. This means all these packages now have pre-release versions. Since native assets is in experimental mode and not available on the stable/beta branches, this is as expected. Test exempt: Covered by existing tests, only rolling forward deps. |
