Hide error on mDNS registration failure and print warning in flutter attach (#166782)
Publishing an mDNS service stopped working on macOS 15.4 for the iOS
Simulator. `DNSServiceRegister` always returns a callback with error
code `kDNSServiceErr_PolicyDenied`, as if the user had rejected the
permissions popup (except no popup is ever shown). mDNS is used to
discover the Dart VM when running `flutter attach`.

This PR does not display the error message when `DNSServiceRegister`
fails for iOS Simulators. Instead, it prints a warning if `flutter
attach` takes too long with instructions to either use `--debug-url` or
to run `flutter attach` before running the app.

If `DNSServiceRegister` works again in a future macOS update, mDNS will
continue to work the way it did previously.

Workaround for https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166333.

Add support for language hints in TextFields (Android only) (#165554)
## Description

This PR adds support for language hints in TextFields.
This is supported only on Android for the moment and the property name,
aka `TextField.hintLocales`, is based on Android's
`EditorInfo.hintLocales` property, see
https://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/inputmethod/EditorInfo#hintLocales.

Add a gradle_errors.dartentry for missing NDK source.properties file (#167320)
Adds an error handler for
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/164085, based on the suggested
workaround.

The only related Android issue I could find is
http://issuetracker.google.com/issues/201557284, which suggests it is
due to an incorrect path for the NDK within the Android directory, which
means that allowing AGP to re-download would fix the issue. Users also
suggest that doing that fixes the issue in this comment
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/164085#issuecomment-2684252849,
so the handler suggests that as the official workaround.

Don't throw on error for mDNS when searching for Dart VML url on core devices (#167135)
When we discover the Dart VM for iOS Core Devices (iOS 17+), we use both
the device logs and mDNS simultaneously. Since mDNS is having issues
with macOS 15, don't throw if mDNS errors - this will allow the Dart VM
to have a chance to be found by the device logs instead.

Improving experience for
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/150131.

Also should unblock https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166843.

Set an additional CMake arg in forceNdkDownload to make the task name align with the BuildType (#167240)
Aligns the generated task names with what they would be expected to be,
i.e. `configureCMakeDebug` now depends on `compileFlutterBuildDebug`
(before it was profile).

Does this by:
1. Instead of configuring this in a `defaultConfig`, configure per build
type.
2. Move the invocation of this code to after where we create the
`profile` build type.

Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166744

Fix Carousel crashes when using PageStorageKey (#166817)
- Fix https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166067

- PageStorage is usually used to save and restore offset of scrollable
widget when the widget is recreated in practice. From the crash stack
trace in bug report, it happens when [oldViewportDimensions gets a null
value](3fa9b38705/packages/flutter/lib/src/material/carousel.dart (L1472-L1485)).
Tracing it down, it’s due to [hasViewportDimension is
false](3fa9b38705/packages/flutter/lib/src/widgets/scroll_position.dart (L275)).
There might be a very brief moment when the scroll metrics are being
reconstructed, and the viewport dimensions are not yet ready, which
triggers the crash. If a PageStorageKey is not specified, the scroll
position would be newly created fresh each time, avoiding this
restoration process and the associated null state.

- The fix is simply to not force casting `oldViewportDimensions!`,
instead, it falls back to `viewportDimension` which is non-null for
safety.

When using --local-web-sdk, use a locally built Dart SDK if one is available (#166732)
If flutter_tools is run with both a local Web SDK and a local engine,
then use the Dart SDK from the local engine instead of the prebuilt Dart
SDK.

This enables testing of a local Wasm build with a locally patched Dart
SDK by setting --local-web-sdk to the Wasm engine output and
--local-engine/--local-engine-host to a local engine built with
--no-prebuilt-dart-sdk.

Change saturation calculation for HSLColor.fromColor (#166639)
<!--
Thanks for filing a pull request!

https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md

This pull request aligns the calculation of saturation for RGB to HSV
conversion with the common formulas you find on the
[internet](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSL_and_HSV#Saturation)
(concrete: if `r`, `g` and `b` are the same (-> gray), the saturation
should be 0).

This fixes black currently having a saturation of `1` instead of `0`.

[ Widget Preview ] Add support for theme and brightness properties on Preview (#167001)
The `theme` parameter of `Preview(...)` allows for developers to provide
a callback that returns a `PreviewThemeData` instance which can contain
theming data for Material and Cupertino widgets in both light and dark
modes. The provided theme data will be injected into the widget tree and
applied to the previewed widget.

The `brightness` parameter allows for developers to specify an initial
brightness setting (e.g., light vs dark mode) for the previewed widget.
If not provided, the current system default is used.

A new button has also been added to each widget preview card that allows
for toggling between light and dark mode for individual previews.

Persistent CupertinoListTile leading and trailing (#166799)
The bug occurs because the background color passed into the underlying
`Container` changes from null to `backgroundColorActivated`. Under the
hood, the `Container` wraps its child in a `ColoredBox` only if the
color is non-null. So the extra wrapping with a `ColoredBox` happening
mid-animation breaks reparenting, causing the widgets to be
replaced/inflated instead of updated.

[reland] Fix regression in NDK version checking (#167011)
Relands https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/166998.

On top of the original PR:
1. fixes unfortunate mistake in commenting the fix
2. adds to the `runIf` cases to better cover when this test should be
run in presubmit
3. pins a lower version of `shared_preferences_android`, as we need to
use a plugin with `compileSdk 34` for those lower AGP versions.

Adds a dependency on `shared_preferences_android` to the smoke tests we
have that run across the range of AGP/Gradle versions we support. Chosen
randomly, just to recreate the error. Hopefully this doesn't push the
test target into timeout range, it was already a kind of long running
one.

The IDE suggestion here was misleading, as this value switched from
nullable to non nullable in AGP 8.1/8.2. Unfortunately the IDE makes
these suggestions based on one AGP version, specified in the project
level `build.gradle.kts`. I checked all other files with our minimum
supported AGP version, and this was the only error.

modify toggle mode style with DatePickerTheme (#164102)
- Add properties to DatePickerThemeData:
- `toggleModeStyle` allow customization on _DatePickerModeToggleButton
TextStyle;
- `toggleModeForegroundColor` allow changing the color of both button
and Icon with consistency;
- Compatible with existing code by the use of defaults;
- Adjust test to cover new properties

How to customize toggle mode style before:

```dart
  showDatePicker(
    context: context,
    firstDate: DateTime(2025),
    lastDate: DateTime(2026),
    builder:
        (context, child) => Theme(
          data: ThemeData.light().copyWith(
            textTheme: TextTheme(titleSmall: TextStyle(fontSize: 16)),
            datePickerTheme: DatePickerThemeData(
              dayStyle: TextStyle(fontSize: 12),
            ),
          ),
          child: child!,
        ),
  );
```

Now:

```dart
  showDatePicker(
    context: context,
    firstDate: DateTime(2025),
    lastDate: DateTime(2026),
    builder:
        (context, child) => DatePickerTheme(
          data: DatePickerThemeData(
            toggleModeStyle: TextStyle(fontSize: 16),
            dayStyle: TextStyle(fontSize: 12),
          ),
          child: child!,
        ),
  );
```

[iOS/macOS] Add Xcode error if dev dependencies are incorrect (#165916)
Recently, the Flutter tool was updated to remove dev dependencies for
release builds and add dev dependencies for debug/profile builds.

However when building from Xcode directly, dev dependencies are not
enabled/disabled. As a result, it was possible for debug builds to not
have dev dependencies (or vice versa). Example:

1. `flutter build ios --release` - Release build using Flutter tool.
Disables dev dependencies
2. `open ios/Runner.xcworkspace` - Open the iOS project in Xcode
3. In Xcode, **Product** > **Build** - Do a debug build

Previously, step 3 would result in debug artifacts that are missing dev
dependencies. This PR now makes this an error:

![image](https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/621c4a8f-1c19-44b9-8866-93bef6b4a384)

Part of https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/163874

## Implementation

The Flutter tool now writes a `FLUTTER_DEV_DEPENDENCIES_ENABLED` in the
generated config file. This tracks whether the currently generated
project has dev dependencies.

In the Xcode build:

1. The Xcode backend script passes the
`FLUTTER_DEV_DEPENDENCIES_ENABLED` config to `flutter assemble` using
the `DevDependenciesEnabled` define
6. The new `CheckDevDependencies` target verifies dev dependencies:
1. It checks if the dev dependencies status is correct for the current
build mode
2. It checks whether the app has dev dependencies by reading the
`.flutter-plugins-dependencies` file. If the app has no dev
dependencies, the error is suppressed.

[native assets] Use workspace pubspec for user-defines (#166977)
If pub workspaces are used, then native assets are shared across the
whole pub workspace. Using a different user-define, invalidates the
cache. Therefore, we want to avoid having different user-defines in
different pubspecs belonging to the same workspace. So, only use the
workspace pubspec for user-defines.

Analogous Dart SDK CL:
https://dart-review.googlesource.com/c/sdk/+/422101

### Testing

Covered by the integration tests added in
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/166940 for user-defines.

### Design discussion

We could allow adding user-defines in root package pubspecs later, but
this will likely deteriorate caching behavior (either invalidating the
cache often, or requiring a cache directory per root package, which
increases latency for new root packages).

Also, we'd likely add command-line user-defines later, these are
expected to deteriorate caching behavior.

[native assets] Roll dependencies (#166969)
Roll forward deps to the ones published today.

Note: `package:native_assets_cli` has a lower-bound on a Dart SDK dev
version to signal for which version of Dart and Flutter it is compatible
with. This means all these packages now have pre-release versions. Since
native assets is in experimental mode and not available on the
stable/beta branches, this is as expected.

Test exempt: Covered by existing tests, only rolling forward deps.

[native assets] Support user-defines in pubspec (#166940)
This PR is the dual of
https://dart-review.googlesource.com/c/sdk/+/420700 in the Dart SDK.

This PR adds support for user-defines for hooks in the root package
`pubspec.yaml`.

```yaml
hooks:
  user_defines:
    hook_user_defines: # package name
      magic_value: 1000
```

For more design considerations see:

* https://github.com/dart-lang/native/issues/39

### Testing

This PR is covered by
`test/integration.shard/isolated/native_assets_test.dart`.

In this PR, we add a new test project
`dev/integration_tests/hook_user_defines/` and add a dependency on that
project in the mentioned test.

The integration test already covers `flutter run`, `flutter test`, and
`flutter build`.

[ Widget Preview ] Add support for "soft" restart of individual previews (#166846)
A soft restart simply removes the previewed widget from the widget tree
for a frame before re-inserting it on the next frame. This has the
effect of re-running local initializers in `State` objects, which would
normally require a hot restart to accomplish. This reduces the number of
cases where a full hot restart of the preview environment would be
needed to pick up state-related changes.

Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166450

**Updated Controls:**

![image](https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/616f8fc4-0b57-4a1c-85e7-ef36126cdffe)

**Demo:** updates a string initialized in `initState`, triggering a hot
reload. The updated string isn't rendered until the restart button is
pressed, causing the widget to be reloaded with the new state
initialized.

Migrate in-comment links of the flutter/engine repository to the flutter/flutter repository (#166790)
This PR migrates almost all in-comment links that points to the main
branch of flutter/engine repository to the flutter/flutter repository,
ensuring that such links are always up to date.

I've manually verified that all links are valid. There are a few cases
where the migration is not so trivial and I had to look up for the
updated location or line number, but I'm pretty sure the new value is
correct.

The only place that I don't know how to migrate is two links in
[Upgrading-pre-1.12-Android-projects.md](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/master/docs/platforms/android/Upgrading-pre-1.12-Android-projects.md)
pointing to
`https://github.com/flutter/engine/blob/main/shell/platform/android/io/flutter/app/FlutterActivity.java`,
which I guess no longer exists.

There are still many links that point to a specific branch or revision
of the engine repo. I don't think we need to migrate these links, since
they're probably not meant to be kept up to date.

Update TextFormField restoration tests (#166678)
## Description

This PR updates TextFormField restoration tests:
- It adds a missing test, the one whose description is 'Textformfield
value is restorable'.
- It adds one test to replace two tests (and their corresponding helper
class) which were duplicated from TextField tests, see
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/master/packages/flutter/test/material/text_field_restoration_test.dart

[native assets] Roll dependencies (#166862)
Updating the dart-lang/native dependencies to the ones published
yesterday.

Incorporates a fix for:

* https://github.com/dart-lang/native/issues/2149
* Note that a bunch of tests were relying on ignoring build assets. The
tests have been fixed.

And the new `AssetRouting` syntax in the build hook for sending assets
to the link hook:

* https://github.com/dart-lang/native/pull/2164

Does not include support for user-defines in the pubspec yet. Will do
this in a follow up PR.

ImageStreamCompleter no longer checks _hadAtLeastOneListener for disposal (#166797)
This PR removes the logic about `_hadAtLeastOneListener`, a boolean to
check during `maybeDispose`. Although this check has existed when
disposal was first added, it was a weird logic without explanation, and
most importantly, removing it doesn't seem to break anything.

This change reverts the following previous change:
Currently when using a `CustomScrollView`, screen readers cannot list or
move focus to elements that are outside the current Viewport and cache
extent because we do not create semantic nodes for these elements.

This change introduces `SliverEnsureSemantics` which ensures its sliver
child is included in the semantics tree, whether or not it is currently
visible on the screen or within the cache extent. This way screen
readers are aware the elements are there and can navigate to them /
create accessibility traversal menus with this information.
* Under the hood a new flag has been added to `RenderSliver` called
`ensureSemantics`. `RenderViewportBase` uses this in its
`visitChildrenForSemantics` to ensure a sliver is visited when creating
the semantics tree. Previously a sliver was not visited if it was not
visible or within the cache extent. `RenderViewportBase` also uses this
in `describeSemanticsClip` and `describeApproximatePaintClip` to ensure
a sliver child that wants to "ensure semantics" is not clipped out if it
is not currently visible in the viewport or outside the cache extent.
* `RenderSliverMultiBoxAdaptor.semanticBounds` now leverages its first
child as an anchor for assistive technologies to be able to reach it if
the Sliver is a child of `SliverEnsureSemantics`. If not it will still
be dropped from the semantics tree.
* `RenderProxySliver` now considers child overrides of `semanticBounds`.

On the engine side we move from using a joystick method to scroll with
`SemanticsAction.scrollUp` and `SemanticsAction.scrollDown` to using
`SemanticsAction.scrollToOffset` completely letting the browser drive
the scrolling with its current dom scroll position "scrollTop" or
"scrollLeft". This is possible by calculating the total quantity of
content under the scrollable and sizing the scroll element based on
that.
