## What's new?

Note that this PR does **NOT** include a real implementation of
`WindowingOwner` (e.g. for win32 or macOS). That work will be opened as
a follow up.

There's today a single boolean `debugEmulateFlutterTesterEnvironment`
that determines certain behaviors in the engine to emulate how the
Flutter Tester runs (more details at
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/145779).
With this PR:
- Run all engine unit tests in production mode by default.
- Give tests more granular control over which test behaviors to
enable/disable (e.g. Ahem font).
- Keep it easy for framework tests to enable all emulation behaviors.

Unfortunately `10_google3_bug.yml` comes before `2_bug.yml`.
This changes the name (slightly) of the issue templates based on the
instructions from GitHub on what to do when you have 10+ issue templates
(as a side-note: I wonder if we need/still use umbrella bugs for the
feature tracker, or two types of performance bugs)
This auto-formats all *.dart files in the repository outside of the
`engine` subdirectory and enforces that these files stay formatted with
a presubmit check.
**Reviewers:** Please carefully review all the commits except for the
one titled "formatted". The "formatted" commit was auto-generated by
running `dev/tools/format.sh -a -f`. The other commits were hand-crafted
to prepare the repo for the formatting change. I recommend reviewing the
commits one-by-one via the "Commits" tab and avoiding Github's "Files
changed" tab as it will likely slow down your browser because of the
size of this PR.

Context:
A Flutter web customer with a large widget tree was getting a stack
overflow error when they toggled on "show implementation widgets" in the
Flutter DevTools Inspector. This is because building the JSON tree
recursively was hitting Chrome's stack limit.
This PR creates the JSON tree **iteratively** if the `getRootWidgetTree`
service extension is called with `fullDetails = false` (which is what
DevTools uses to fetch the widget tree).
For all other instances of creating a widget JSON map (for example, when
fetching widget properties) the recursive implementation is used. This
allows properties provided by subclasses implementing `toJsonMap` to be
included in the response.
Note: Because with this change `toJsonMap` is only called when
`fullDetails = true` and `toJsonMapIterative` is only called when
`fullDetails = false`, this PR partially reverts the changes in
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/157309.
This pull request aims to improve code readability, based on feedback gathered in a recent design doc.

There are two factors that hugely impact how easy it is to understand a piece of code: **verbosity** and **complexity**.
Reducing **verbosity** is important, because boilerplate makes a project more difficult to navigate. It also has a tendency to make one's eyes gloss over, and subtle typos/bugs become more likely to slip through.
Reducing **complexity** makes the code more accessible to more people. This is especially important for open-source projects like Flutter, where the code is read by those who make contributions, as well as others who read through source code as they debug their own projects.

The following examples show how pattern-matching might affect these two factors:

In both of the examples above, an `if-case` statement simultaneously verifies that an object meets the specified criteria and performs a variable assignment accordingly.
But there are some differences: Example 2 uses a more deeply-nested pattern than Example 1 but makes fewer useful checks.
**Example 1:**
- checks that `ancestor` is an `InheritedElement`
- checks that the inherited element's `widget` is an `InheritedTheme`
**Example 2:**
- checks that `widget` is a `PreferredSizeWidget`
(every `PreferredSizeWidget` has a `size` field, and every `Size` has a `height` field)

I feel hesitant to try presenting a set of cut-and-dry rules as to which scenarios should/shouldn't use pattern-matching, since there are an abundance of different types of patterns, and an abundance of different places where they might be used.
But hopefully the conversations we've had recently will help us converge toward a common intuition of how pattern-matching can best be utilized for improved readability.

Previously, I was under the impression that I could solve issue #143803 with [just 1 PR](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/143804).
It turns out that I had overlooked quite a bit!

Dart2Wasm doesn't officially support `dart:ffi` (only a small sketchy
subset needed in flutter web engine). We have seen user reporting issues
where existing packages don't work with dart2wasm due to using
`dart.library.ffi` in `bool.fromEnvironment` or in conditional imports
and it doing the wrong thing. So we're going to make `dart.library.ffi`
`false` in the compiler.
We therefore update the code to detect whether it runs under wasm via a
new `dart.tool.dart2wasm` environment variable.
This is a preparation for the change in dart2wasm which will start
making `const bool.fromEnvironment('dart.library.ffi')` return `false`
instead of `true`.
This pull request aims for improved readability, based on issue #146600.

Most of the repo should be covered in this PR (aside from `flutter_tools/`, since there was a lot going on in there).
* Adds support for `flutter test --wasm`.
* The test compilation flow is a bit different now, so that it supports compilers other than DDC. Specifically, when we run a set of unit tests, we generate a "switchboard" main function that imports each unit test and runs the main function for a specific one based off of a value set by the JS bootstrapping code. This way, there is one compile step and the same compile output is invoked for each unit test file.
* Also, removes all references to `dart:html` from flutter/flutter.
* Adds CI steps for running the framework unit tests with dart2wasm+skwasm
* These steps are marked as `bringup: true`, so we don't know what kind of failures they will result in. Any failures they have will not block the tree at all yet while we're still in `bringup: true`. Once this PR is merged, I plan on looking at any failures and either fixing them or disabling them so we can get these CI steps running on presubmit.

This pull request fixes#143803 by taking advantage of Dart's null-aware operators.
And unlike `switch` expressions ([9 PRs](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/143634) and counting), the Flutter codebase is already fantastic when it comes to null-aware coding. After refactoring the entire repo, all the changes involving `?.` and `??` can fit into a single pull request.
Children should be omitted from debugFillProperties (if they really need to be included they should be in debugDescribeChildren, but in general for widgets we don't bother including them since they are eventually included anyway).
toStrings should not contain newlines (or, ideally, should use Diagnosticable).
Also some minor tweaks to match grammar and style guide conventions.
This PR is the fourth step in the journey to solve issue #136139 and make the entire Flutter repo more readable.

This one is covering files in `packages/flutter/lib/src/foundation/` and `packages/flutter/lib/src/material/`.
The `material/` directory is pretty big though, so for now I just did the files that start with `a`, `b`, and `c`.
It's confusing that `debugPrint` also prints in release mode, given that a lot (most?) other things prefixed with `debug` don't do anything in release mode. Therefore, this adds some documentation that this is indeed logging in release mode and adds an example how to disable this.
*If you had to change anything in the [flutter/tests] repo, include a link to the migration guide as per the [breaking change policy].*
This PR adds the Dart VM `vm:platform-const-if` pragma introduced in
https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/commit/57a1168875 to the
`defaultTargetPlatform` property, allowing it to be computed as if it
was a constant field in non-debug AOT builds. In particular, this means
that platform-specific code executed conditionally based on this
property can be tree-shaken in release builds. Note that this PR changes
`defaultTargetPlatform` to only allow overriding via
`debugDefaultTargetPlatformOverride` in debug builds, and makes it so
that compilation throws an error if code assigns
to`debugDefaultTargetPlatformOverride` in other build modes.

Pinning the package:web dependency constrains downstream packages from
using newer versions and making sure they support the version pinned in
Flutter. Since the usage of package:web in Flutter is light, we should
instead have a small shim like the engine and keep package:web as a dev
dependency only.
