[AGP 9] Added Proguard File Check (#178191)
Starting AGP 9 the `android.proguard.failOnMissingFiles` flag is set to true by default [here](https://developer.android.com/build/releases/agp-preview#:~:text=change%20is%20required.-,android.proguard.failOnMissingFiles,-Fails%20the%20build). This means that specified proguard files must exist in order for the proguard rules to be configured. Added a check to ensure the file exists. Respect product flavor abiFilters by adding a disable-abi-filtering Android project flag. (#177753)
This PR introduces a flag (`disable-abi-filtering`) that disables the FlutterPlugin's abiFiltering on buildTypes. This should only be used when the developers know what they are doing. Specifically this allows developers to set their own abiFilters in ProductFlavors or defaultConfig. Because Gradle has complex merging logic, there is a hierarchy of priority when calculating settings (like abiFilters). For example: defaultConfig < productFlavors < buildTypes when combining the three into the final build variant. If abiFilters are set in buildType, it will override abiFilters in productFlavors. When the FlutterPlugin executes, it cannot know about the developers build.gradle settings and therefore we cannot add logic that checks to see if abiFilters are set in productFlavors. Therefore, this flag gives developers an escape hatch so they can implement what they want. Bump Templates To Correct Versions (#177416)
I bumped templates to the correct versions. I also included a fix for kgp and agp compatability. AGP 8.11.0 -> 8.11.1 Gradle 8.13 -> 8.14 KGP 2.2.0 -> 2.2.20 I ran `flutter analyze --suggestions` and `flutter build apk` to ensure these are safe versions. Will cherry pick this to beta after the pr merges. Bump AGP, KGP, Gradle Templates (#176858)
Bumped template versions: AGP 8.9.1 -> 8.11.0 KGP 2.1.0 -> 2.2.0 Gradle 8.12 -> 8.13 Ran `flutter analyze suggestions` to check for versioning compatability. [Gradle 9] Removed minSdkVersion and only use minSdk (#173892)
Support for `minSdkVersion` is completely dropped in Gradle 9, and we should only use `minSdk`. We also included an AGP version checker to ensure builds did not crash when getting the minimum sdk version. [Android] Fix version code override calculation in FlutterPlugin (#174081)

[android] Fix broken --android-skip-build-dependency-validation flag (#172581)
The way I was parsing the boolean previously was just not working. This works. Also restores a set of tests that was deleted in https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/171776 that I don't think should have been (missed this in review), and adds a test case for the fix. [Android] remove obsolete gradle api in FGP (#172085)
fixes #170791 This PR replaces the deprecated (and removed in 9.0) Gradle fileMode API in favor of filePermissions. This change finally unlocks builds with gradle 9 (confirmed in smoke tests, 9.0.0-rc.2 is the latest prerelease version to the date). **Testing strategy** There's an attempt to add a Kotlin unit test that confirms that `filePermissions` were called during plugin application. I failed to find a more precise way to check if the new code works as intended (such as testing that permissions were really changed or something like that), but on the other hand, it should not be required since it will transform the test in a way that it will start to test Gradle APIs and their behavior, and I believe it's a bit out of scope: Gradle APIs are tested in Gradle tests :) Anyway, this new test is a bit cumbersome because it's required to mock all the behaviours related to variants configuration and capturing calls – If it is not desired im not hesitant to remove it. <!-- Thanks for filing a pull request! partial resolution for #170791 (lowercase but not filemode) This is the first time I have used the experimental api annotation. [Android] add abiFilters to Flutter Gradle Plugin (#168293)
fixes #153476 More context in https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/153476#issuecomment-2849311523 and https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/153476#issuecomment-2866416786 TLDR: `abiFilters` cannot be added to templates (the original issue proposes that) because it will break the Gradle build if the `--splits-per-abi` option is provided: ``` Conflicting configuration : 'armeabi-v7a,arm64-v8a,x86_64' in ndk abiFilters cannot be present when splits abi filters are set : armeabi-v7a,arm64-v8a ``` In this PR, `abiFilters` is added programmatically in the Flutter Gradle Plugin when the `splits-per-abi` option is not provided and only for non-debuggable builds. As stated in https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/153476#issuecomment-2866416786, `abiFilters` are actually useful in cases when a third-party dependency is used with the `x86` variant. Resolve resolve native Flutter dependencies in Android Studio (#167332)
With this fix you can edit Flutter and native code in one Android Studio instance. This fixes #19830 The only downside is that you need to copy the files `settings.gradle`, `build.gradle` and `local.properteis` from the `android` folder to the project root folder. The last one should be added to the `.gitignore` file. The second step is that you need to correct the path in the `settings.gradle` at the end is: ```groovy include ':app' ``` That needs to be replaced with: ```groovy include ':app' project(':app').projectDir = new File(rootDir, 'android/app/') ``` The cool thing is if you have two flutter projects or another gradle module you can include them there too and you get the autocompletion too. ```groovy include ':app', ':app2', ':native-lib' project(':app').projectDir = new File(rootDir, 'android/app/') project(':app2').projectDir = new File(rootDir, 'app2/android/app/') project(':native-lib').projectDir = new File(rootDir, 'example/native-lib/') ``` My assumption is that there will be some change requests and some questions. Bumping framework Template Defaults to Android 16 (API 36) (#166464)
Updating framework to Android 16 (API 36). This involves updating template versions to: `compilesdk` 36 AGP 8.9.1 gradle 8.11.1 They are the recommended minimum versions outlined in the android docs [here](https://developer.android.com/build/releases/gradle-plugin). Note: I will bump `targetsdk` in a different PR. Infra changes may be necessary when bumping `targetsdk`, so rolling it back would be easier if the change is in a separate PR. Add kotlin compatability to build file validation (#167143)

Set an additional CMake arg in forceNdkDownload to make the task name align with the BuildType (#167240)
Aligns the generated task names with what they would be expected to be, i.e. `configureCMakeDebug` now depends on `compileFlutterBuildDebug` (before it was profile). Does this by: 1. Instead of configuring this in a `defaultConfig`, configure per build type. 2. Move the invocation of this code to after where we create the `profile` build type. [reland] Fix regression in NDK version checking (#167011)
Relands https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/166998. Fix warnings in FGP (#166727)
Fixes/suppresses all warnings: 1. Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/162695 2. Suppresses warnings about the various `*Variant*` imports that we use being deprecated, with comments linking to https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166550 to migrate to the variant api. 3. Fixes some unused elvis operators and unneeded types provided for declarations that AGP complains about, e.g. `val fooString: String = "a string"`, and use of deprecated string related methods. 4. Follows up on https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/166277, as we were getting a warning mentioned in this comment https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/166277#issuecomment-2780184486. 5. bump warn agp version from 7.3 to 8.3 (#166555)
Bumping the warn agp version from 7.3 (sept 2022) to 8.3 (feb 2024). This is because we will likely need to depend on apis available in the newer versions of AGP as part of our work to migrate to the public/stable agp api. Warning will not break customers but starts the clock on being able to bump error version.
