Selecting an implementation widget with the on-device inspector opens the code location for the nearest project widget (#176530)
Fixes https://github.com/flutter/devtools/issues/9252 Previously, if a user selected a widget that was not created in their project files using the on-device inspector, we would open the code location for that widget. Now, we open the code location of the nearest ancestor widget in their project files. (e.g., a user selects `RichText` in the framework, we open the `Text` widget in their project) Users can still open the code location for a Flutter framework or third-party package widget by explicitly selecting it in the DevTools widget tree. See more details/rationale on issue comment https://github.com/flutter/devtools/issues/9252#issuecomment-3368491936 _Note: This resolves one of the top user complaints in the 2025 DevTools user survey._ |

Implement framework interface for the dialog window archetype (#176202)
## What's new? - 🍏 Added the concept of dialogs to the windowing API. New symbols: - `DialogWindowControllerDelegate` - `DialogWindowController` - `WindowingOwner.createDialogWindowController` - `DialogWindow` - `WindowControllerCommon` - 🥘 Introduced the `WindowControllerCommon` mixin to share common windowing functionality between controller types - I have NOT yet implemented dialogs. This pull request ONLY adds the idea to the API. Win32 implementation to follow :) ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [x] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [x] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. |

[a11y] Add expanded flag support to Android. (#174981)
Closes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/92040 - Adds `expanded` semantics flag support to Android - Adds `onExpand` and `onCollapse` semantics actions - Updates `robolectric` library - Adds java and dart tests #### Why were `onExpand` and `onCollapse` actions added? It turned out that TalkBack doesn't announce the `expanded` state if `expand/collapse` action is not set for the accessibility node. #### Why was the `robolectric` library updated? The `expanded` state support in Android was introduced in API 36. The `roboelectric: 4.14.1` doesn't support API 36. To run tests for a newly added functionality `roboelectric` library was updated to `4.16`, which supports the latest Android version (https://github.com/robolectric/robolectric/releases/tag/robolectric-4.16). In case you think it would be better to update the `roboelectric` in a separate PR, please let me know. <br/> <details> <summary>Example Source Code</summary> ```dart import 'package:flutter/material.dart'; void main() { runApp(const App()); } class App extends StatefulWidget { const App({super.key}); @override State<App> createState() => _AppState(); } class _AppState extends State<App> { final _controller = ExpansibleController(); @override void dispose() { _controller.dispose(); super.dispose(); } @override Widget build(BuildContext context) { return MaterialApp( debugShowCheckedModeBanner: false, home: Scaffold( body: Column( mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center, spacing: 24, children: [ Text('Expansible Example'), ListenableBuilder( listenable: _controller, builder: (context, child) { return Semantics( expanded: _controller.isExpanded, onExpand: () { print(' \n onExpand \n '); _controller.expand(); }, onCollapse: () { print(' \n onCollapse \n '); _controller.collapse(); }, child: child, ); }, child: Expansible( headerBuilder: (context, _) => ListTile( tileColor: Colors.blue.shade100, leading: Text( 'Expansible', style: TextStyle(fontSize: 20), ), trailing: Icon( _controller.isExpanded ? Implement Regular Windows for the win32 framework + add an example application for regular windows (#173715)
## What's new?
- Implement and test `_window_win32.dart`, the Win32 implementation of
`_window.dart` 🎉
- Wrote a bunch of tests in `window_win32_test.dart` which uses a mock
API barrier to mock the native Win32 layer
- Update `BaseWindowController` to extend `ChangeNotifier` and use it to
inform the `WindowScope` of when things change
- Made `RegularWindowController.empty()` a non-internal constructor, as
it is needed by implementations
- Added a _large_ example application for windowing where users can test
out different windowing concepts and see how they work!
To test, simply run the tests or try out the example app!
## Pre-launch Checklist

Cleans up navigator pop and remove logic (#175612)
<!-- Thanks for filing a pull request! Reviewers are typically assigned within a week of filing a request. To learn more about code review, see our documentation on Tree Hygiene: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md --> fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/170250 The original issue is that when a page gets stuck in the adding stage due to top-level animation is still ongoing, removing that route causes it to be in a inconsistent state. While fixing this issue, I also do some clean up on the onDidRemovePage logic because the existing logic can't handle this kind of operation ## Pre-launch Checklist - [ ] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [ ] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [ ] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [ ] I signed the [CLA]. - [ ] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [ ] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [ ] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [ ] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [ ] All existing and new tests are passing. Fix SliverMainAxisGroup SliverEnsureSemantics support (#175671)
To complete the work in PR #166889, this PR ensures that `SliverMainAxisGroup` correctly supports `SliverEnsureSemantics` and respects `cacheExtent` rules within its `visitChildrenForSemantics` implementation. The fix is adapted from `RenderViewPort.visitChildrenForSemantics` code. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [X] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. |

Add an assertion for the relationship between Visibility.maintainState and Visibility.maintainFocusability (#175552)
This change adds an assertion for the relationship between `Visibility.maintainState` and `Visibility.maintainFocusability`. Setting `maintainFocusability` to `true` is a no-op if `maintainState` is set to `false`, so we should add a helpful assertion here. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. --------- Co-authored-by: Renzo Olivares <roliv@google.com> |

Correctly implement PlatformViews' cursors on Web (#174300)
Fix https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/174246 Before: https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/33d2a476-d9c4-46e1-a5c5-ea8e602060d6 After: https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/383e4a01-4b8e-4c0e-a5a4-fa0d1fc28b67 This PR is not a result of a thorough fix for mouse cursors on all platforms, but simply matching the behavior of `SelectionArea` on Web to that on non-Web. A central question lies how a platform view widget should control the mouse cursor. On the surface, the answer is simple: it doesn't, and let the view content to control (hence the `MouseCursor.uncontrolled` constant). But what if the empty region of the view content doesn't control the cursor at all? This would be a problem even on non-Web, because if neither the view content nor the view controls the cursor on non-Web, then the user will find the cursor remaining the one used by the last region, which would be different when entering and when leaving, the same bug as https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/174246 . On the other hand, what is it supposed to fall back to if the view content doesn't define a cursor? Is the default cursor the logically correct option? ... I decided that I did not want to dig too much into the details, and instead focus on this specific issue. I tried the repro app on macOS and found that the empty region of `SelectionArea` falls back to the widget behind it, the same behavior as `MouseCursor.defer`. Therefore in this PR I made `MouseCursor.uncontrolled` essentially the same as `.defer` on Web, matching the behavior across platforms. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [ ] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. Fix RadioGroup single selection check. (#175654)
Fixes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/175258 ### Description This PR fixes the single selection check in `RadioGroup` by delaying it to the next frame, which ensures that all `registerClient` and `unregisterClient` calls are processed. Add semanticIndexOffset argument to SliverList.builder, SliverGrid.builder, and SliverFixedExtentList.builder (#174856)
Issue: #173019 This pull request adds support for the `semanticIndexOffset` parameter to the `SliverList.builder`, `SliverFixedExtentList.builder`, and `SliverGrid.builder` constructors in Flutter. This allows developers to offset the starting semantic index for items in these slivers, which is important for accessibility scenarios (such as when combining multiple slivers). The changes are thoroughly tested with new widget tests to ensure correct behavior. **Accessibility improvements:** * Added `semanticIndexOffset` parameter to the constructors of `SliverList.builder`, `SliverFixedExtentList.builder`, and `SliverGrid.builder`, and ensured it is passed to the underlying `SliverChildBuilderDelegate`. This allows customization of the starting semantic index for sliver children. Add SliverGrid.list convenience constructor (#173925)
This PR adds a new `SliverGrid.list` convenience constructor that accepts a `List<Widget> children` parameter, providing a cleaner API compared to manually creating `SliverChildListDelegate`. ## What was added The constructor uses `SliverChildListDelegate` internally and follows the same pattern as existing convenience constructors like `SliverGrid.count` and `SliverGrid.extent`. This addresses the use case where developers want to create sliver grids with predefined widget lists without the verbosity of manually constructing the delegate. ## Before/After comparison **Before:** ```dart SliverGrid( gridDelegate: gridDelegate, delegate: SliverChildListDelegate([widget1, widget2, widget3]), ) ``` **After:** ```dart SliverGrid.list( gridDelegate: gridDelegate, children: [widget1, widget2, widget3], ) ``` ## Implementation details - Added `SliverGrid.list` constructor in `packages/flutter/lib/src/widgets/sliver.dart` - Constructor accepts `List<Widget> children` and all necessary delegate configuration parameters - Uses `SliverChildListDelegate` internally for consistent behavior - Added comprehensive test coverage in `packages/flutter/test/widgets/slivers_test.dart` ## Issue addressed Fixes: #173018 ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. --------- Co-authored-by: Loïc Sharma <737941+loic-sharma@users.noreply.github.com> |

Retry "Implements the Android native stretch effect as a fragment shader (Impeller-only)." (#173885)
This PR retries the previously reverted PR #169293. > [!NOTE] > This feature was originally intended to be Impeller-only, and it was agreed that no additional engine changes were necessary. However, during testing on the Metal backend, a shader loading issue occurred. In my view, this seems to be a simple problem caused by the shader not being included in the engine’s runtime_stages. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. --------- Co-authored-by: Tong Mu <dkwingsmt@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Kate Lovett <katelovett@google.com> |

Update some semantics flags updated to use enum (engine, framework, web) (#170696)
issue: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166101, new Updates : Add new enum Tristate and CheckedState in for 7 flags. For CheckState, it used to use 3 bools (hasCheck, isChecked, isCheckStateMixed) to represent check states, replace them with a CheckState enum. For other 6 flags, each has 2 bools (hasXXState and isXX), replace them with a Tristate enum. This will be a breaking changes to the SemanticsFlags class , which was added in April in https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/166101 and https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/167771 , will write a breaking change doc for this PR ## Pre-launch Checklist - [ ] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. > Sorry, Closing PR #169196 and reopening this in a new PR for clarity
and a cleaner commit history.
Fixes #82906
In the existing Flutter implementation, the Android stretch overscroll
effect is achieved using Transform. However, this approach does not
evenly stretch the screen as it does in the native Android environment.
Therefore, in the Impeller environment, add or modify files to implement
the effect using a fragment shader identical to the one used in native
Android.
> [!NOTE]
> - The addition of a separate test file for StretchOverscrollEffect was
not included because it would likely duplicate coverage already provided
by the changes made in overscroll_stretch_indicator_test.dart within
this PR.
>> However, since determining whether stretching occurred by referencing
global coordinates is currently considered impossible with the new
Fragment Shader approach, the code was modified to partially exclude the
relevant test logic in the Impeller.
>>
>> For reference, in the page_view_test.dart test, there was an issue
with referencing the child Transform widget, but because the
StretchOverscrollEffect widget is defined instead of the Transform
widget in the Impeller environment, the code logic was adjusted
accordingly.
>
> - Golden image tests were updated as the visual effect changes.

Add error handling for Element lifecycle user callbacks (#173148)
This is for #172289, but since this fix is speculative so I'll wait for the confirmation from the original reporters before closing the issue. As a bonus this fixes #65655 The framework Element rebuild logic relies heavily on `Element._lifecycleState` being correct. When a user-supplied lifecycle callback (e.g., `State.deactivate`) fails the framework currently only ensures that every `Element` in the tree has the right lifecycle state, so an out-of-tree `Element` that is supposed to be disposed may still have an `active` state and continue being rebuilt by the BuildScope (because it's in the dirty list). See the comments in #172289 Also related: #100777 Internal: b/425298525 b/431537277 b/300829376 b/415724119 b/283614822 # TODO (in a different PR) The original issue could also be caused by incorrect `Element.updateChild` calls. If an `Element` subclass calls `Element.updateChild` to add child but forgets to update its child list accordingly (such that `visitChildren` misses that child), you'll get a child Element that thinks it's a child of the parent but the parent doesn't recognize the child so won't take that child into account during reparenting or unmounting. This is a programmer error that we should try to catch in the framework. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [ ] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. Implements the Android native stretch effect as a fragment shader (Impeller-only). (#169293)
> Sorry, Closing PR #169196 and reopening this in a new PR for clarity and a cleaner commit history. Fixes #82906 In the existing Flutter implementation, the Android stretch overscroll effect is achieved using Transform. However, this approach does not evenly stretch the screen as it does in the native Android environment. Therefore, in the Impeller environment, add or modify files to implement the effect using a fragment shader identical to the one used in native Android. > [!NOTE] > - The addition of a separate test file for StretchOverscrollEffect was not included because it would likely duplicate coverage already provided by the changes made in overscroll_stretch_indicator_test.dart within this PR. >> However, since determining whether stretching occurred by referencing global coordinates is currently considered impossible with the new Fragment Shader approach, the code was modified to partially exclude the relevant test logic in the Impeller. >> >> For reference, in the page_view_test.dart test, there was an issue with referencing the child Transform widget, but because the StretchOverscrollEffect widget is defined instead of the Transform widget in the Impeller environment, the code logic was adjusted accordingly. > > - Golden image tests were updated as the visual effect changes. ## Reference Source - https://cs.android.com/android/platform/superproject/main/+/main:frameworks/base/libs/hwui/effects/StretchEffect.cpp ## `Old` Skia (Using Transform) https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/22d8ff96-d875-4722-bf6f-f0ad15b9077d ## `New` Impeller (Using fragment shader) https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/73b6ef18-06b2-42ea-9793-c391ec2ce282 ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. Fix directional focus in nested scrollables with different axis (#172875)
<!-- Thanks for filing a pull request! Reviewers are typically assigned within a week of filing a request. To learn more about code review, see our documentation on Tree Hygiene: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md --> Related issue : #172854 Fixes #160431 This PR fixes the focus when navigating with keyboard arrows or TV remote d-pad in a nested lists with different axis and a fixed focusable at the top. It's a common setup for apps that deal with images or videos. The problem is that when the vertical scrollbar has scrolled and you want to scroll back to the top without the mouse, only using keyboard up arrow to jump from widgets to widgets in the list until reaching the top, the fixed top focusable widget wrongly takes the focus instead of letting the vertical scrollable scroll. I think the video bellow explain the problem better. | Before this PR | After this PR | |--------|--------| | https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/54160e0c-abe5-4181-9aea-8351ce5f35b5 | https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/eee32175-37eb-44a6-a7c2-a751fc82d592 | Note that I had to edit two existing tests because they were failing with my edits. However, I think these tests were testing a bad behavior. For example here is the visualization of the `Focus traversal inside a vertical scrollable scrolls to stay visible` test case before this PR : https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/be843ae8-a0df-411e-971c-3bf763c457e0 Test was green bug the focus behavior is weird. When pressing arrow down from item 3 we would expect a scroll and item 4 to be focused, here it's footer that is focused and when we press arrow down again item 5 is focused and item 4 is skipped. Here is the behavior after this PR and the test edited : https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/b90757a8-042d-4d53-b7e6-19b9141cc83f ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [ ] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. <!-- Links --> [Contributor Guide]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#overview [Tree Hygiene]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md [test-exempt]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#tests [Flutter Style Guide]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Style-guide-for-Flutter-repo.md [Features we expect every widget to implement]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Style-guide-for-Flutter-repo.md#features-we-expect-every-widget-to-implement [CLA]: https://cla.developers.google.com/ [flutter/tests]: https://github.com/flutter/tests [breaking change policy]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#handling-breaking-changes [Discord]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Chat.md [Data Driven Fixes]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Data-driven-Fixes.md |

Fix ReorderableList proxy animation for partial drag-back (#172380)
_**Note:** Alongside this PR, I've also prepared [another PR](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/172882) with an alternative solution involving a more substantial refactor that addresses the root cause, rather than adding more conditional logic._ ## Description This PR fixes the proxy animation bug where dragging a `ReorderableList` item downward and then back to its original position causes it to animate to the wrong location (one position too low). ## The Problem When dragging a `ReorderableList` item downward and then back to its original position, the proxy widget briefly animates to the wrong location (one position too low) before snapping to the correct spot. **Reproduction**: Drag any item down past at least one other item, then drag it back to where it started. <p align="center"> <img src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/d0931dff-5600-441c-8536-2c61789767d0" alt="demo2" width="250"> </p> ## Root Cause This bug is specific to dragging an item down and then bringing it back up to nearly (but not 100% of the way ) to its original position: 1. When the item approaches its original position **from below**, `_insertIndex` becomes `item.index + 1` - This happens because Flutter's `ReorderableList` calculates `_insertIndex` with the dragged item still present in the list (see #24786) 2. The proxy _should_ animate to the item's original position at `item.index` - _But the proxy actually animates one position too low._ - This happens because `_dragEnd` incorrectly calculates `_finalDropPosition = _itemOffsetAt(_insertIndex! - 1) + _extentOffset(...)` - The `_extentOffset(...)` addition, designed for items dropping _between other items_, shifts the position down by one item's height - The correct calculation for "returning home from below" should be just `_itemOffsetAt(_insertIndex! - 1)` Note that this only occurs when returning from below (`_insertIndex > item.index`). Dragging upward (in a vertical list for example) or doesn't trigger this bug. ## Existing Implementation The existing `_dragEnd` method in `reorderable_list.dart`: ```dart void _dragEnd(_DragInfo item) { setState(() { if (_insertIndex == item.index) { _finalDropPosition = _itemOffsetAt(_insertIndex!); } else if (_reverse) { if (_insertIndex! >= _items.length) { _finalDropPosition = _itemOffsetAt(_items.length - 1) - _extentOffset(item.itemExtent, _scrollDirection); } else { _finalDropPosition = _itemOffsetAt(_insertIndex!) + _extentOffset(_itemExtentAt(_insertIndex!), _scrollDirection); } } else { if (_insertIndex! == 0) { _finalDropPosition = _itemOffsetAt(0) - _extentOffset(item.itemExtent, _scrollDirection); } else { _finalDropPosition = _itemOffsetAt(_insertIndex! - 1) + _extentOffset(_itemExtentAt(_insertIndex! - 1), _scrollDirection); } } }); } ``` When returning from below, the code falls through to the final else block, which incorrectly adds `_extentOffset`. ## Fix Detect when `_insertIndex - item.index == 1` (indicating a return to original position from below) and animate to the correct position. ```dart if (_insertIndex! - item.index == 1) { // Drop at the original position when item returns from below _finalDropPosition = _itemOffsetAt(_insertIndex! - 1); } ``` This fix was proposed by @frankpape in https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/90856#issuecomment-2599368939; I've merely validated and researched the background of why the fix works, and supported it with tests. **_Demo of the fixed implementation:_** <p align="center"> <img src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/a53e8920-ebca-4326-abe9-3b43b34419e5" alt="fixed" width="250"> </p> Fixes #88331 Fixes #90856 Fixes #150843 ## A note about a previous PR: While investigating this issue, I found a PR addressing what seemed to be [the same exact issue](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/150843): PR #151026; it turns out that that PR solved a _portion_ of the edge case: the case where an item is dragged down and back and slightly **overshoots** its original position when being dragged back & dropped—but that PR did not account for the presence of this bug when the dragged item slightly **undershoots** its original position on the return drag. This new PR effectively addresses the 'undershooting' case. With this, I've added a new pair of regression tests that are identical to the [previous PR's tests](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/master/packages/flutter/test/widgets/reorderable_list_test.dart#L734), except for the fact that they simulate an undershoot on the return trip (90% of the way back instead of 110% like the original tests). This definitively captures the issue, failing in the master branch and passing in this PR's branch. Here is the specific case resolved by the [**old** PR](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/151026): <table> <tr> <td align="center"> <img src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/b0ddc745-6e9e-4f12-97da-454e2e76b06d" alt="Before" width="200"><br> Before </td> <td align="center"> <img src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/03e181fa-f43b-4405-b0c0-16d3465ad990" alt="After" width="200"><br> After </td> </tr> </table> Here is the additional case resolved by **this** PR: <table> <tr> <td align="center"> <img src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/9b4bb591-aa2f-4cf0-88b8-a3ec32b0f0ac" alt="Before" width="200"><br> Before </td> <td align="center"> <img src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/31646e9c-78f4-4252-921f-53583193868f" alt="After" width="200"><br> After </td> </tr> </table> Two final observations worth noting: - The fix proposed in this PR seems to **supersede** the previous PR's solution; it addresses both cases (overshooting and undershooting) even in my tests with the [original PR's changes ](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/151026/files#diff-23a4bb073009d89f09084bdf5f85232de135b8f11be625e6312bb85900a90e67) reverted. Probably best to keep the old PR's code anyway to be conservative, but noteworthy. - I also found it notable that neither this PR nor the older PR fix any issue with "reversed lists", which, in my tests, are simply not subject to this edge case as we've defined it. The regression tests added for the reverse case are thus purely precautionary. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. <!-- Links --> [Contributor Guide]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#overview [Tree Hygiene]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md [test-exempt]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#tests [Flutter Style Guide]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Style-guide-for-Flutter-repo.md [Features we expect every widget to implement]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Style-guide-for-Flutter-repo.md#features-we-expect-every-widget-to-implement [CLA]: https://cla.developers.google.com/ [flutter/tests]: https://github.com/flutter/tests [breaking change policy]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md#handling-breaking-changes [Discord]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Chat.md [Data Driven Fixes]: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Data-driven-Fixes.md |

Migrate to list and builder Sliver convenience constructors (#173011)
In 2022, we introduced new convenience constructors like `SliverList.builder` and `SliverList.list`. Unfortunately, LLMs like Gemini seem to prefer the delegate pattern even when these convenience constructors are usable. This updates Flutter's docs, code, and tests to use these convenience constructors where possible. Hopefully this will nudge LLMs to consider using the new APIs :) I migrated 80% of the code by hand, and 20% using Gemini CLI. See [go/loic-ai-log](http://goto.google.com/loic-ai-log) (Google internal) for details. There's a few locations that I wasn't able to migrate to the convenience constructors due to missing APIs. I filed the following issues: 1. https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/173018 2. https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/173019 ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [x] I read the [Tree Hygiene] wiki page, which explains my responsibilities. - [x] I read and followed the [Flutter Style Guide], including [Features we expect every widget to implement]. - [x] I signed the [CLA]. - [ ] I listed at least one issue that this PR fixes in the description above. - [x] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [ ] All existing and new tests are passing. Add the 'windowing' feature flag and use to wrap an implementation for regular windows that always throws (#172478)
## What's new? - Added the `windowing` feature flag to the project - Created the internal `_window.dart` API with support for regular windows - Implemented a `_WindowingOwnerUnsupported` implementation of the `WindowingOwner` interface - Marked all points of the public API as `@internal` with a corresponding warning documentation - Threw an `UnsupportedError` where it is appropriate to do so Note that this PR does **NOT** include a real implementation of `WindowingOwner` (e.g. for win32 or macOS). That work will be opened as a follow up. This work is based off of https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/168697 and http://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/168437, as well as this design document: https://docs.flutter.dev/go/multi-window-experimental-apis ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. --------- Co-authored-by: Loïc Sharma <737941+loic-sharma@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix: adjust scrollable size assertion with tolerance (#171426)
<!-- Thanks for filing a pull request! Reviewers are typically assigned within a week of filing a request. To learn more about code review, see our documentation on Tree Hygiene: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md --> Fixes: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/136331 The original issue highlights two separate bugs: 1. When Flutter calculates Widgets, there might be floating-point precision issues. For example, the calculation result may show _dragTargetRelatedToScrollOrigin.size.height as 64.00000000000003. Therefore, I introduced a very small tolerance to address this. 2. When there's a size scaling effect on the ReorderableListView, such as an influence from Transform.scale, the method for calculating the drag target becomes incorrect. ## Pre-launch Checklist - [x] I read the [Contributor Guide] and followed the process outlined there for submitting PRs. - [ ] I updated/added relevant documentation (doc comments with `///`). - [x] I added new tests to check the change I am making, or this PR is [test-exempt]. - [x] I followed the [breaking change policy] and added [Data Driven Fixes] where supported. - [x] All existing and new tests are passing. |

fix(scrollbar): Update padding type to EdgeInsetsGeometry (#172056)
<!-- Thanks for filing a pull request! Reviewers are typically assigned within a week of filing a request. To learn more about code review, see our documentation on Tree Hygiene: https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/main/docs/contributing/Tree-hygiene.md --> This PR enhances RTL support for the RawScrollbar widget by updating its padding type and adding comprehensive tests. The changes include: 1. Updating RawScrollbar's `padding` parameter from `EdgeInsets` to `EdgeInsetsGeometry` - This change is non-breaking because `EdgeInsets` is a subclass of `EdgeInsetsGeometry` - Existing code using `EdgeInsets` will continue to work as before - Users can now optionally use `EdgeInsetsDirectional` for RTL support 2. Adding a test case that verifies scrollbar positioning with EdgeInsetsDirectional padding 3. Testing both overscroll and regular scroll scenarios with directional padding These changes ensure that the scrollbar works correctly in both LTR and RTL layouts, improving accessibility and internationalization support. No SystemContextMenu when readOnly is true (#171242)
When readOnly is true, there is no TextInputConnection, so the SystemContextMenu can't be shown. Instead, this shows the Flutter-drawn context menu. This video shows the change. You can slightly tell that the system context menu is shown when readOnly is false and the Flutter-drawn context menu is shown when it is true. https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/91480fa4-cce6-4d63-ae11-df72a229da73 This is the same root cause as https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/169238. Route transition duration (#171109)
We need a robust way to get the duration of a route transition in tests,
so that tests can remain independent of the type of route transition and
its duration.
With this PR, this will be the canonical way to pump until a page
transition has finished:
```dart
testWidgets('example', (WidgetTester tester) async {
final TransitionDurationObserver observer = TransitionDurationObserver();
await tester.pumpWidget(
MaterialApp(
navigatorObservers: <NavigatorObserver>[observer],
onGenerateRoute: (RouteSettings settings) { ... },
),
);
expect(find.text('Page 1'), findsOneWidget);
expect(find.text('Page 2'), findsNothing);
// Pump through the whole transition.
await tester.tap(find.text('Next'));
await observer.pumpPastTransition(tester);
expect(find.text('Page 1'), findsNothing);
expect(find.text('Page 2'), findsOneWidget);
// Or, pump through part of a transition with the duration.
await tester.tap(find.text('Back'));
await tester.pump(observer.transitionDuration ~/ 2);
expect(find.text('Page 1'), findsOneWidget);
expect(find.text('Page 2'), findsOneWidget);
});
```
This was spun out of https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/165832,
where updating the default route transition and its duration broke tests
in the framework, in customer tests, and in Google tests.
